Issue: Cannot default the My Ford Sync system (without Navigation) to Bluetooth audio

Some users are having an issue with when they turn the ignition on their My Ford Sync system reverts to Line-In even though they were using Bluetooth audio when they turn their vehicle off. They would like to have the system revert back to Bluetooth audio instead of having to go through the menus to be able to get to Bluetooth audio or use the voice commands. A Ford customer service representative FordIVTteam actually joined in the conversation and gave the reason why Ford made this change (as it would previously revert to Bluetooth) and the best method to get back to the source they wanted.

Around probably 6 months ago, Ford released the Sync 4.4 update for people with the 4.2" non touch screen radios. This mainly addressed Sync not resuming back on Bluetooth audio.

This works better for most people. However it's inconsistent. I know I only have about 80% success with it. That said, it's better than it was before.

if you're not sure what you have, you can go to owner.ford.com and login. There you can check your version and see if there's an update available to you. If you're having constant sync issues, I'd recommend trying the update. The update still has issues, but it's better than it was.

EDIT: From the original release notes --

This update includes the following enhancements:

Bluetooth© Connectivity Improvements:
• Enhanced Bluetooth phone connection stability
• Enabled track information to be displayed for Bluetooth-streamed media including metadata such as song title, artist name and album title
• More robust Message Access Profile (MAP) functionality to handle SMS reception and Text2Speech output

Media Connectivity Improvements:
• Improved media connectivity for USB-equipped Apple devices, as well as streamlined device initialization and authentication process
• Previous USB or Bluetooth media source playback now resumed after ignition cycle

Same here. I hate how I have to go select bluetooth audio every time i get in my truck. Also, now since the update it takes probably a minute for my truck to tell me that 911 assist is enabled then sometimes it freaks out and doesn't play the song. I have to manually press the audio button and say "bluetooth audio" then say "play". I miss the old version lol

Right! Thank god ford ditched Microsoft for 2015 im sure they loved all the feedback they've gotten with these radios lol. All other cars I ride in the Bluetooth is so smooth then I get in my truck and I have to say or hit 20 buttons just for it to not work lol

I just purchased a 2011 F150 and the bluetooth worked great the first 2 days and now will not reconnect. I went to the ford sync site to register there and check for updates but the site is currently not working and says try again later. HA.

The update helped my truck. Now as long as Pandora is active when I get in the truck it starts playing. Sometimes it plays about 30 seconds of a song and then pauses. Hitting play will make it start playing again.

If Pandora or no other music app is active it still defaults to sync line in.

When I get in my truck first thing in the morning when all the apps have timed out I usually start playing Pandora on my phone before I start the truck to make sure sync starts playing music normally.

The AUX button on the radio should toggle between line in and bluetooth but I guess flipping thru the menus made more sense at the time...

That's what I keep saying. Ultimately I don't care that Sync is hot garbage. The only thing I use it for is to get to bluetooth. If the Aux button cycled between auxiliary inputs, I'd never even notice how bad sync is.

Before I updated sync it wouldn't auto connect. So update sync. After updating if you are not connecting it may have something to do with your phone, so try updating that too, also update all apps, and try downloading bluetooth auto connect.

But yea, it still seems to work sometimes and not other times and i havent figured it out 100% yet.
