Issue: Cannot default the My Ford Sync system (without Navigation) to Bluetooth audio
Some users are having an issue with when they turn the ignition on their My Ford Sync system reverts to Line-In even though they were using Bluetooth audio when they turn their vehicle off. They would like to have the system revert back to Bluetooth audio instead of having to go through the menus to be able to get to Bluetooth audio or use the voice commands. A Ford customer service representative FordIVTteam actually joined in the conversation and gave the reason why Ford made this change (as it would previously revert to Bluetooth) and the best method to get back to the source they wanted.

Can Sync default to Bluetooth Audio?

Just did this tonight. Update is easy but does take time.
Plug in USB and go find the install application option. It told me it needed to reboot then sat there in silence for a while. Could see USB activity light blinking so knew it was working. Took maybe 10 minutes total.
Lost my phone pairing in process which is fine so did master reset just in case. Paired phone and it found Pandora. Track information displays on screen for Pandora or phone MP3s. Bluetooth reconnects like it should.
Took 4 years but I'm happy with sync Bluetooth now.

I can't get the damn update to install. My flash drive is formatted in Fat32 and the files are rooted. It just keeps saying "no files, make sure it's in the root form" or something of that nature. The only thing I can think of trying is using a PC instead of a Mac. Considering the last update was installed using the same flash drive and computer, I may just quit trying before I end up tearing the radio out of the dash and smashing the hell out of it.

I couldn't figure out how to launch the install either... So I called the Sync help line and some lady walked me through doing the update over the phone. I don't remember the exact steps, but she had me use the steering wheel controls...
My issue with the update. The Bluetooth audio streaming works fine, until I turn the car off, get back in the car, and it randomly starts playing a song on my iPhone (doesn't start playing where it left off). I have thousands of songs on the iPhone--this is incredibly annoying...

I had the same issue. Go to the phone menu, system settings, install applications. Press OK, install USB drive and press OK again. Worked like a champ. Not sure if that's the exact steps but pretty close. Truck must be running.

In other news, my system stopped responding to all voice commands and would not connect to the phone via bluetooth two days ago. After deleting profiles and a master reset didn't fix it, I went to the internets and discovered that I all I had to do was unplug the battery for a few minutes. That fixed it.

I have also noticed that when I make a phone call from my phone, rather than the voice prompts, that after the first ring privacy mode will kick in. I have to de-select the "Privacy Mode" option on the screen to turn it off. This only happens when I start the call from my phone. Which I've always done and never had this problem before the update.
The metadata update is nice but had I known that this would happen, and that the auto reconnect bluetooth wouldn't work I would never have installed this update.
Does anybody know if it is possible to purchase a Sync module, that has not been updated, and replace it with the existing module? I was happy with the original software that came on the module.
