Issue: Cannot default the My Ford Sync system (without Navigation) to Bluetooth audio
Some users are having an issue with when they turn the ignition on their My Ford Sync system reverts to Line-In even though they were using Bluetooth audio when they turn their vehicle off. They would like to have the system revert back to Bluetooth audio instead of having to go through the menus to be able to get to Bluetooth audio or use the voice commands. A Ford customer service representative FordIVTteam actually joined in the conversation and gave the reason why Ford made this change (as it would previously revert to Bluetooth) and the best method to get back to the source they wanted.

Can Sync default to Bluetooth Audio?

This. I'd upgrade to a MFT if I could....but it's not an option (unless I want to spend some CRAZY money.
I'd update to QNX if it ever becomes a possibility...which I'm almost dead sure it won't be, even though I know for @$#% sure it could be done.
While I can't say I'll never purchase a Ford again, I'm giving my next truck purchase a REAL critical eye, and will give Toyota/Chevy a bit more of a look.

Mine is still broken after all this time. My belief is the non-MFT systems were broken on purpose to upsell to the more expensive MFT option.
The way options are bundled, you'd have to get Nav and the rest of it to get MFT too. The nav systems in the vehicles seem obsolete when they're new. I opt to use my smartphone.
Again, the conspiracy theorist in me thinks Ford hobbles the potential smartphone integrations of various apps, e.g. nav as it cuts into sales of Ford's own nav systems. For example, Google Maps used to be one of the things that worked with Sync AppLink. No more... it disappeared.
I also wanted heated leather seats in my truck but to get it, I had to opt for a Lariat package with MFT, nav and other options for 1000's more. I don't recall all of the specifics but the pricetag for the truck I would have had to buy to get leather seats was around $6000 more... !
I bought a Katzkin package to get heated leather for just over $1000 installed.
I worked around the bluetooth audio thing by loading all of my music on a USB flash drive. It worked great and USB remained the default source and resumed playing music where it left off UNTIL I took it in for a battery problem recently. NOW, it won't even stay on USB anymore. It defaults to Line In! I'll have to go in and see if while they had it in the shop to replace the battery whether they also monkeyed with the Sync software and 'upgraded' it. I'm also only getting ~14 MPG since it was in. I had been getting 17+ MPG.

...last time my truck was in for service, the 'loaner' (through Enterprise) was a Chevy Silverado. Very basic LT level trim with a low-end sound system, but the phone interface and bluetooth streaming were light-years ahead of the kludgy Sync system in ease-of-use and just working.
It would be so freaking simple to just have repeated presses of the 'Aux' button cycle through available interfaces (aux/USB1/BT1/USB2/BT2) just like the 'AM/FM' cycles through AM/FM1/FM2 and Sirius cycles through SAT1/SAT2/SAT3... Might not fix the default setting, but at least you wouldn't be doing stupid voice commands or going multiple levels through the menu system EVERY TIME you start the truck!

Yes, but while I can't speak for others, even when I start the truck up and it autoplays from USB2, once I switch it from there using the Media button, I can *ONLY* select USB2 again via voice command.

I don't like using Bluetooth because it does not display the song and artist on the display. So I always plug my phone into USB. If I put my music on a USB flash drive will it display the song and artist?

Getting off topic, but the USB would work so much better if the navigation wasn't so broken. I've never been able to find a way to go back up folders.
