Issue: Cannot default the My Ford Sync system (without Navigation) to Bluetooth audio

Some users are having an issue with when they turn the ignition on their My Ford Sync system reverts to Line-In even though they were using Bluetooth audio when they turn their vehicle off. They would like to have the system revert back to Bluetooth audio instead of having to go through the menus to be able to get to Bluetooth audio or use the voice commands. A Ford customer service representative FordIVTteam actually joined in the conversation and gave the reason why Ford made this change (as it would previously revert to Bluetooth) and the best method to get back to the source they wanted.

Default Can Sync default to Bluetooth Audio?

I traded my 2003 F150 FX4 in for a 2013 XLT (My Ford Sync without Navigation) and I cannot default the Sync system to bluetooth audio. It reverts to Line-In every time I start the ignition.

I drove a 2010 Ford Fusion for a while (rental) that was able to remember I was streaming audio from my Galaxy S4 smartphone when I got out to get gas (for example). It would reconnect and start playing automagically when I returned to the vehicle. It seems I can't get Sync do this in my 2013 truck.

So to play streaming music over bluetooth, I have to either navigate through the menus on the dash or I have to press the Sync button and say "Bluetooth Audio" then press it again and say "Play". Occassionally (rarely) I have to turn off bluetooth on the phone and turn it back on before it will connect. It's annoying because I have to jump through these hoops every time I get in the truck.

Does anyone have a way to get Sync to 'remember' this instead of always reverting back to Line-In?

Hi Crank Bait,

I'm happy to clear this up for you. When comparing different make and model year vehicles, it's important to note that they may be running different versions of SYNC software. The software installed depends on the current or prior vehicle owners and how frequently vehicle was updated. If you're in two completely different model year vehicles, their features may operate totally different.

For example, there was a time when the vehicle would default to the last channel used - even if it was Bluetooth audio. This created a concern for many customers as using Bluetooth does require an additional power load from the phone. Customers became anxious over not being able to control this behavior, as it may lead to overall battery consumption earlier than usual. So, per vehicle owner feedback, the latest version of software does not default to the Bluetooth audio channel. The best means of selecting this source is through the appropriate voice command BLUETOOTH AUDIO. Let me know if there are any questions.

I started a thread just like this a while back and tried to find out something for a long time but no one seems to know but many have the same issue. Best help I can give you is use voice commands and say Bluetooth audio. Better than going though the menus on the radio.

On my '13 MFT with a Droid Razr Maxx I rarel seem to have issues with it reconnecting automatically. The few times it happened i chocked it up to the phone connecting to slow and/or Pandora being closed but not off. But thats only happened a few times now.

Default Usually a phone issue

As I said above, it is "usually" a phone issue.

I have a galaxy s3 that I use with my 13 fx4, and with my G37xS.

I use pandora with my phone for both. Only time it changes away from Bluetooth on either vehicle when I turn them on, is if pandora is no longer running on my phone.

Is there any way to download old software then? Cause the old way is the exact way I want mine. It's very irritating having to change it every single time you get in the truck especially when I'm running around town doing short drives and constantly having to correct it every time I get in the truck.

I got the latest sync with my 2013 FX4, the BT audio always auto connects with my Galaxy S4 when I start the truck, it also plays the song where I left it last time stopped. Could also be the phone that doesn't do the auto connect.

It's always great having friends in the truck with you when you have to command "Bluetooth Audio!"
