Issue: Cannot default the My Ford Sync system (without Navigation) to Bluetooth audio
Some users are having an issue with when they turn the ignition on their My Ford Sync system reverts to Line-In even though they were using Bluetooth audio when they turn their vehicle off. They would like to have the system revert back to Bluetooth audio instead of having to go through the menus to be able to get to Bluetooth audio or use the voice commands. A Ford customer service representative FordIVTteam actually joined in the conversation and gave the reason why Ford made this change (as it would previously revert to Bluetooth) and the best method to get back to the source they wanted.

Can Sync default to Bluetooth Audio?

You're welcome! Keep me posted.
No updates that I know of. Carrying the album/artist/song information over to SYNC via Bluetooth is a phone dependent feature, whereas with media players, the metadata is transferred through USB and will display.

Hi nick. Is there any update planned to send the track and artist name, maybe even album art over Bluetooth to the MyFord Sync? I have a 2014 XLT and I cant see what song is playing over Bluetooth. I saw on the sync support forum that it was planned over a year ago, but I have the latest version and it still isn't working.

Then what phones is it compatible with? Why would the feature be supported in other trucks, but not in the Ford if it is phone dependent?

It's compatible with most BT phones, of course; with that said, Windows and Android phones evidently have a more open BT stack implementation, whereas the iPhone's is more restricted.

It is my understanding that this functionality could be added to our systems with a service bulletin but since Microsoft is apparently no longer involved in supporting the Ford SYNC system we should just accept that we've been screwed and this pathetic, shameful excuse of a product will never be fixed.

Sorry to flood you with negativity
I'm gonna unsubscribe from this thread so I'm not tempted to respond to any more of the nonsense that comes in every now and then. This issue affects me daily and is a real sore spot for me.
The last thing I want to share with all of you who are also dealing with a defective basic sync system (no mft, no nav, basic f'd up garbage sync) is this website www.syncsucks.com
I for one will be doing everything in my power to get compensated for this system. I'm no lawyer but I think class action is entirely appropriate in this circumstance. Ford obviously isn't getting the message that this is unacceptable.
Happy driving

The ability to carry metadata via Bluetooth is not one of SYNC's listed features on the compatibility chart, so I don't have the answer to that.

Ooh. Good catch, caniscream. This deserves something better than a pat answer; either SYNC carries metadata, or it doesn't.
I have a feeling that technically SYNC doesn't 'carry' metadata' so much as it is 'presented' metadata at some point by the phone, and whether or not it's presented with said metadata has to do with the BlueTooth stack implementation on that phone.
