You'll NEVER get a FULL REFUND on a FORD ESP cancellation. there is a $75 adm fee for cancelling anyway.

Has anyone canceled their ESP plan to purchase a cheaper one? Will ford allow that?

i gave in after about 45 minutes of saying no (to esp and premium care) to get myself, my wife and our two kids out of captivity. i purchased it on a credit card (didn't put in the loan). The next day, I showed the finance guy links to Flood and some other sites that have been mentioned. I got the charges reversed on my credit card a week later without paying any cancellation fees.

i know that is not the same situation as the op, just another perspective/anecdote.

UMM.... I guess when I talked to ESP rep at Ford about this, that yes, the mileage starts from in service date but the 3/60000km warranty is used first, then it goes to your ESP plan afterwards. They also told me that there was no charge for cancelling if you do purchase the ESP plan, this is where I got the information. I have not experience this as I got a good price on my ESP from the get go. Maybe its a difference between US and Canada??!!??!!?? Or the rep I talked to was wrong.

The thing about almost "extended warranty" is that they start from date of purchase. in case of a truck, in-service date.

I got the 72 months 75,000 mile FORD ESP.

So yea, its ALL INCLUSIVE.... Meaning that the truck had a 3/36 warranty anyway......

So the actual "extended warranty" is the remainder after the 3/36 bumper to bumper warranty....So this is what you are actually paying for.

its like a computer I recently bought. 2 year extended warranty. NOT EXACTLY. its TWO years of coverage (overlaps manufacturer's warranty), so I actually bought a 1 year warranty coverage.

I guess its the wording in these contracts that is meant to be catchy.

^^ yes I agree, its the wording that can make a difference. So if you buy a 7/150000km ESP, it all starts the day you drive it off the lot.

I was told, and hopefully he wasn't lying, by the finance guy that I could cancel my plan at any time for a full refund of what I hadn't used.

If you read the info on the back of the paperwork it says that you can cancel but there is a $75 processing fee. In my case my truck has 5500 miles, the 1st oil change was done through a free coupon from the dealership so I technically haven't used any of mine yet. I would guess it would be the price you paid minus the $75 and how many times you have used it.
