Can I refinance to my credit union and cancel the plans?

You can cancel your Ford ESP plan, from what I was told that you have to go back to the dealer you purchased it at in order to cancel.

I would stay away from the credit union plans... Ford ESP and FMPP plans are the best thing going. $2500 each seems a little high but not sure which time/mileage you got. You will have to do everything through your dealer tho, and the refund won't be a full refund, it will be pro rated, so at the end of the day will you be any further ahead? Hard to say, but cant hurt to look into it.

Pretty sure you can call Ford Customer Service and cancel it. Why would you be required to go to the dealer? What if they went belly up?

Also, you can transfer it to the new buyer if you sell your Ford. It costs $75 but it's a great selling point for a prospective buyer. Just get them to pay it if they want the coverage. I believe if you cancel it in the first 30 days, you get 100% refund.

I got my 7 year/100k PremiumCare ESP for $1259. The stealer wanted $2300. Feeling generous, they offered me $1750 as a "employee pricing." I just went to fd-warranty.com. Flood Ford might be $60 cheaper though for the same term.

I have no idea on the maintenance plan. But for the ESP they MAY say to go to any Ford dealer and have them submit the cancellation (there's probably a form.) But in reality, just pick up the phone and call customer service... it's free, they're nice, and they can definitively answer your question.

Its not prorate till the factory warranty is gone. since he just got the truck, he can cancel and get a full refund.

I believe the opposite is true. The return of investment will be a prorated amount, reflecting the miles covered until it is cancelled.

"Full refund" might include a fee for the cancellation if it's after 30 days or 60 days or whatever. And if you're in Florida the rules could be entirely different because of insurance regulations there.

The ESP starts at your vehicles IN SERVICE date, not when your base 3/36 runs out. I think that's an important distinction. Of course it's confusing because you have until that 3/36 time period to actually buy the ESP. But again, it's effective date would be the vehicles in-service date. So for folks who buy a 5 year, 60k warranty, you should probably figure you're really buying a 2 year, 24k warranty. And the 6/100k folks are really getting a 3 year, 64k warranty. Because for 3 years or 36,000 miles it's bumper-to-bumper. And the powertrain is 5 years, 60,000 if I remember correctly. Comparisons assume PremiumCare in the out years and bumper to bumper coverage in the base period.

Based off actual experience . . . . . .

You can cancel the FORD ESP for a $75 "administrative fee", and based off the prorated amount miles/time elapsed period since you purchased it.

The SELLING DEALER must cancel the plan. If you bought it at your dealer, he has to cancel it, and it you owe $ on your loan (and it was a part of the loan amt), its applied to the balance.

If you bought it off the internet, the selling internet dealer has to cancel it, and they will send you a check (minus adm fees)..Careful. some internet FORD ESP sellers charge a fee themselves PLUS the adm fee.

KEEP IN MIND....If you are cancellling your FORD ESP for the sole reason of re-purchasing it somewhere else cheaper . . . . BE CAREFUL!
If FORD sees this is happening, they can REFUSE you purchase of another FORD ESP on the same vin #!

Chevrolet has the same policy on ESP CANCELS (can't rebuy on same vin#)
