Sony Sub-woofer, plug n play?
I should be receiving my 2012 FX4 this week. I ordered with the luxury package so it comes with the premium sound system (Canada)
First question is:
Does it hava a sub? ( I don't think so, please confirm)
If could get my hands on a Sony Sub and amp Assy from a 2011 for around 180$. Is it a plug n play and is it worth the money?
Thanks

the amp and wiring isn't there
On your truck your radio sends sound to your speakers with the Sony package there's an amplifier under the center console and the radio sends a data signal to the amp then amplifies and send the sends sound to the speakers and sub
I have the Sony system and I can say the subs not all that impressive I went out and bought a 500 watt amp and one 12 inch sub and sub box and it out pounds that thing by 100 times and only cost $500 new
I wouldn't waste the money and time on the factory sub
Before anyone says any different this is 100% fact I'm a ford mechanic and I work with this stuff everyday :p

You will have the sub if you have the Sony Premium sound system OP. Do you have the vin number of the truck? I can tell you for sure. If by chance you don't get a amp and 10 or 12 in sub and there ya go. The stock premium system is good but nothing spectacular. The sony system in my 2012 Edge Sport was off the hook, that system slammed for a factory premium system

Boost :)
1. The FX Luxury Package does not include the Sony system. The premium system as they call it is just the 6 disc changer in dash, etc.
2. Here in the U.S., the upgrade cost to go to the Sony system was between 400 and 500 bucks. When I ordered my truck I listened to a truck with it and without it and it was not all that different. Sure there was bass in the Sony setup, but not a 500 dollar difference.
3. If you EVER plan on upgrading your stereo, starting out without the Sony system is the best way. System integration is much easier when you don't have amplifiers, etc to deal with when wiring it.
4. I opted to not get the Sony system and instead spent just under $1000 on 6.5" components in the front, replacement Infinity's in the back, two amps, sound processor, and a 12" sub under the seat along with sound deadening material and did the install all myself. Sure it cost twice what the Sony system did, but it blows that setup out of the water and is setup and installed exactly how I want.
As already stated, you can easily get a sub and amp in there on your premium setup for less than the cost of the Sony system. Any decent aftermarket sub/amp combo is going to make the Sony sound like a joke.

Well, I do have a 12 JBL sub lying around and many AMPS to choose from, so I will go that route.
I would of thought a 12" would be too big??
Also, how did you hook up the sub to the radio, does it have RCA plugs?
Any pics of you set-up?
Thanks
