you can, but i would definitely take it off the truck or else you could risk damaging the chrome bezel around the emblem or something else. i would start rough, 80 grit to knock down the texture quickly, then 120 grit, 240 grit.. u may be able to lay down the decal over the 240 grit with no texture, but i would go to 320 grit or 400 grit at least. it is recommended to paint over 600 grit but obviously u dont need to go that extreme for a overlay. Many auto paint stores can sell u the sand paper by the disc or foot, so u dont have to buy packages of sandpaper u wont ever use. good luck

I think i had the flash on and the sun was shining directly on it in the first pic, so it lit it up pretty good. I was very close to it. It is exactly what I wanted. I have had many compliments on the decals and some people now want to have their own made.

I still get compliments on mine and questions about them. For something so seemingly small, it really sets our trucks apart! Still one of my favorite mods
