Default Is my transmission the only good one?

I have the 6 spd with the 4.6 3v, and my transmission works just like it's supposed to. I'm sitting at close to 13000 miles, and I still get around 17-21 mpg, shifts smooth, and everything. Is there something that others are doing that I am not? Very rarely have I ever just hit the gas hard, and my drive is mostly highway. The truck had around 40 miles on it when I got it, so it really hasn't learned anyone else but me. Honestly I could care less if the car/truck/suv/whatever next to me beat me off the line, as it is a 30000 dollar auto that I would like to keep around for as long as I can. Am I the minority, or are most of us with the good programming/tranny not speaking up.

I have the same setup. The new 6 speed transmission does shift a bit different than what I believe most are use to. Some people don't adjust to change very well in some cases. There may also be some with legitimate transmission issues but I’m content with mine, at least for the present.

My 5.4 V8 4x4 shifts great, I havent had a single issue so far. There are like 600,000 of these out on the road, and 100 or so forum posts, so I would guess most people are just fine.

mine has been fine so far, 5.4 6-sp. only one hard downshift on the freeway.. i was giving it more and more throttle, it wasn't downshfiting then BAM, it shifted. minor one time thing.

it doesn't upshift / downshift in tow-haul using the gas / brake pedals like the manual says it should, but i assume i'm doing something wrong.

Overall, I love our 5.4L 6 speed auto too. Smooth shifts and downshifts when needed. I have noticed a couple of times where the trans seems to be momentarily flumoxed when I get right on, then off, then right back on the gas for some reason.........but this is a minor annoyance and happens only rarely...

the only thing I've noticed...if you dont come to a complete stop, but then give it some gas, sometimes theres a small clunk when the gear shifts prematurly....anyone else notice this?

I love mine after a flash. I usually am pounding on it too, the pedal sees the floor quite often.

I bet if you floor it it will downshift. For the braking-downshift, it usually knows when you have a load or a trailer and will be more aggressive accordingly.

So far I've under 800 miles on mine 4.6/3V and it shifts great (it better!). I am trying to do the learnng as much as I can. I am trying to get it to shift into second a little later than it does from a slow start. Don't know if it can be done. One thing I do really like is the growl under the hood when I am flogging it from a dead dig. Sounds like a 800 CFM Holley (remember those) sucking some massive air. Oh by the way, the trans shifted great doing that too

Mine is a 5.4 and I have no complains, my mpg is lower but I like to push the gas,
