Best way to remove Chrome?
Recently bought a 2013 sterling gray xlt supercrew and would like to remove the chrome. Would like to replace it to match the sterling gray color and get a look similar to the fx4. Any suggestions?

I just went and got some vynle from a buddy who does complete car wraps. Wrapped my bumpers and nobody even knows theres chrome under there but me. Also found a regular non chrome grill on ebay and paint matched the surround for $100. You could also buy or paint the heads and taillights if you hate that chrome too. I bought all raptor/FX style lights. I have a perfect set of xlt headlights i would sell if you want to paint and one rear raptor tailight ready to install. Think its passenger side id have to check

Check out this thread (tko knows) in the last few posts i explain how to paint chrome (my way, tko's is a little different) i even posted a video of me scraping at freshly painted chrome, with it not peeling.

You could also buy PTM parts, and just get them painted.

Little tip...
I know in my case vinyl only came in like 5 foot or whatever wide. Whatever it was it would NOT make it all the way across the front bumper. So i would need to get like 8 feet and have a ton of extra scrap. And it gets expensive! So i decided to just get like 2 feet length, and whatever width is came, and just do a small splice in front bumper overlapping maby 1/4" incase it shrank. Only i know its there nobody sees it.
Ill try and take some pics. Its dirty but at least you can get an idea. I want to redo it a little better now that i have some experience with the stuff.
I guess go easy on the heat gun not to stretch too much. Its not exactly like putting on vinyl dirtbike graphics. But its pretty bitchen stuff. The one i had was some "air release" version. If you get any bubbles they will seep out the microscopic holes and release! Pics on the way
