Best way to negotiate price on new truck?

The only reason I have that screenshot is from people fighting with me about it last year. $61,279 was it's sticker and it went to $47,288 before I negotiated the rest off it.
Guys up here later in 2014 negotiated trucks further than I did on that 2014. The one took a $58000 and something sticker price and paid $38000 before taxes and fees. The deals on the 2014's were to be had last year.
Your buddy got a smoking deal tho!
My 2012 MSRP'd for 58000 and I got it for 40500. It all depends on when you go in and how much you're willing to fight with them. I walked out and they called me back.

I paid just under 43000 for that 14, not 47000. That was just the crap Ford had off of them at the time. Percentage wise you and I got the same on 2 different trucks at about a 31% discount. No fighting... just told them what I was paying and call me when they got the papers done lol. My XLT beat the hell out of that other deal. I have yet to see the many 39% discounts from sticker on new trucks.... and that one too was bought the same day I found the truck.

X-plan pricing isn't a bad route, especially if you're buying current year (you're currently buying a '15)..... A dealer's "doc fee" is maxed at $100... (OP, the $275 is in a GM vehicle). The dealer gets an extra incentive for a vehicle sold on x-plan.
HOWEVER, A ford dealer can sell a vehicle for what ever he wants to.... So I am not sure what "Monkey Business" you're talking about.
If you're looking at a vehicle that been on the lot a LONG time (for example, a left over '14)....x-plan pricing is really NOT that good of a deal at all. I literally walked away from two dealers that insisted x-plan pricing on two different '14's that had been on the lot over a year.

I also agree with gregs150stx that you will get a better price than X-plan if the vehicle has been in inventory for a long time or is left-over from the prior model year. In this case, X-plan does not make much sense because you could have purchased the vehicle at that the X-plan price when it was fresh in inventory or at the beginning of the model year. The dealer will have greater motivation to sell under this circumstance, so you should be able to negotiate a better than X-plan price.
Finally, the best advice on this thread is do you research and be willing to stand-up and walk out if you are not getting the deal you want--be realistic, however. Always walk out on friendly terms, i.e., shake the salesperson's hand with a smile and keep cool, regardless if the negotiations are stressful, or otherwise seem unpleasant or too high-pressured. At the end of the day, it's your money. You don't have to spend it, but the dealership certainly has to sell cars. Thus, you control the negotiations--not them.
One more thing on X-plan, is if you own stock (at least 6 months) in Ford, then you qualify for X-plan pricing as a shareholder.

Interesting -- I didn't know that. Thanks!
I would think the X-plan option would be pretty decent for new, high-demand vehicles such as, say, the '17 Raptor. For the five different 2010 and 2011 F150s that my father and I bought, we shopped around and settled with ~27-28% off MSRP. Not sure whether or not X-plan would have favored us in those situations...

Even if you are a Ford shareholder, it's just easier to go to EAA, become a member online for $40, and immediately use their partner code to log in to the x-plan website. Your supposed to be a member for 60 days, but nobody seems to care or verify this.

I have been looking at purchasing a 15' Lariat for the last 3 months or so. I've been reading alot of post about how to negotiate on a new vehicle and been reading alot of post on how to lots of people get x-plan or invoice price. so i took alot of advice and sent a couple of emails out to my local dealers regarding that i am interested in f150. I got a lot of responses, nice friendly ones. In my emails i stated that i would like to purchase at invoice price, then apply the intensives. I got responses that they would run it by their managers. They asked for what truck i was interested in so i sent the links to a couple of Lariats. After that i got no responses what so ever. i have even sent a follow up but i get no response. it seems as soon as i sent them the link to the "lariats" f150 i was interested they stop communicating. WTF

Make sure you get DIRECT EMAIL ADDRESSES from the dealer you're negotiating with.......
contact links on the dealers website sometimes go thru another system before its forwarded to the dealer (they go thru their "leads" system)...

ha ha yes incentives, my bad.
I was emailing them directly. Each sales reps responded to a few of my emails. but like i said once i sent them the link of the Lariats i was interested i got nothing. Must have something to do with mentioning that i want to purchase at invoice and to include INCENTIVES after invoice price on the Lariat...? I know cars sales reps bug the **** out of you when they get a hold of your email or phone number so something is strange with the no response.
