Also try not to show your emotions how excited you are about the truck, got to have a "ya, what ever" attitude. Like you can take it or leave it,
Don't ever buy a vehicle on emotions. They'll always be another truck out there for you if the one you're looking out doesn't work out.

Default Best way to negotiate price on new truck?

I'm no expert but I've purchased 5 new vehicles in the last 5 years. 13 Focus, 14 F250, 10, 12, and 14 F150. I started off by finding a vehicle I was interested in online, emailed the Internet Sales dept and went from there. Don't pay over invoice minus rebates and don't let them tell you they are losing money doing that, Ford gives them more than adequate kick backs from the rebates.

Remember, they have to sell the truck, you don't have to buy it. Especially since you're in the 09-14 section, they want these things gone to sell the 15's.
Nope.

Please elaborate on "nope" I worked for a Ford dealer for 6 years so unless something has changed, there are plenty of incentives from Ford for the dealer on new cars with rebates. Ie better pricing, better allocation of stock etc...obviously volume sales come into play with my examples.

If your not experienced negotiation car deals, or just want to avoid the headache, join EAA or the mustang club for $50 and just get X-plan pricing. It is fixed pricing, invoice minus 0.4% plus $275, and you are still eligible for virtually all rebates. Ford wont allow and doesn't tolerate any dealer monkeybusiness on x-plan deals, so you don't have to worry about the dealer bs'ing or taking advantage of you.

Skilled, direct negotiation with the GM or sales manager can probably yield a slightly better price, maybe $500-$800 less than x-plan, but x-plan will still give a better deal than 90% of the folks that get screwed on car deals but think they did great, plus no brain damage dealing with high pressure four-square dealer sales tactics.

Secondly, pretty much *everything* the finance manager will try to sell you is a overpriced. Warranties, protection packages, service packages can almost always be purchased for less after you own the car if you need them at all.

Lastly, don't even mention or negotiate your trade until you have ironed out the best possible price for the new vehicle, then see what you can get on your trade. Otherwise they just offer you more for your trade making you think your getting a great deal but skinny up the discount on the new vehicle.

I bought 3 of these of heaps in 2014 and basically found out Ford was willing to give their new stuff away in comparison to the window price and or invoice.

Invoice is a funny creature. I never ask for it..... couldn't care less what the dealership says it is. Why? It's a simple number to come up with and on any of the 3 trucks I bought I didn't pay "Invoice-current advertised rebates" anyway. The one dealer dork wouldn't provide the number anyhow..... got angry when I asked for the invoice price on the truck. I hung up on that clown and never called back. He also got stupid because all 3 trucks I have gone through here were 6.2's........ and the dealers started playing the "Oh those are rare and discontinued". Just shut up lol..... it's a Ford pickup and none were a Raptor so you can stick your "rare" where the sun doesn't shine.

I looked invoice up online and was able to get pricing on my first truck I bought being my FX4. I knew it was pretty well just a $6000 differential from the sticker. Now after that I subtracted the roughly $9000 in rebates Ford advertised. So my truck was at a sticker of $60,879. Invoice basically dropped it to $54,900.. Then another 9000 below that giving you 45,900. I ended up paying about $43,200 for the truck before taxes and fees. I just more or less took the invoice and rebate number and made it the out the door price. It took quite a while and a couple dealers were fighting to get me to buy but I got what I wanted at a approximately 29% discount.

That was truck number 1. Truck number 2 took the cake...... I didn't do anything beyond the legwork to find it. Dealer had it for 433 days on the lot. Their initial offer all in on a $47,516 sticker was $33,731 or something silly. That was taxes and fees included. I offered what ended up being $29,900 ( $32000 even out the door) for the truck and got it. So it worked out to a 39% discount.

Truck 3 was the same as truck 1. Except it was a 2014 model year, not a 13. I basically just told them I would pay $43000($46000 all in) for a $61,300 sticker. They took it.

No magic. The only truck I paid too much for was truck number 1 but oh well, I wasn't hosed.

Calm head, talk to lots of dealers and once you get a price in your head for something don't move too far from it if at all. I walked on lots..... hung up on a few and ended up paying more or less what I wanted too.

I have contemplated dumping the 2015 Tundra I bought for another Ford...... not because the Tundra is so horrible of a truck but more based on the closest dealer is utterly useless and the next one is 2.5 hours away making service for the thing a pain. That said Ford isn't moving as much on their new trucks like they were last year so it seems. I guess employee pricing is out now for us up here but with the weaker dollar I doubt I can redo what I did in 2014. Plus I am not all that thrilled with the 2015 trucks either...... so the Tundra will likely stay.

X-plan pricing isn't a bad route, especially if you're buying current year (you're currently buying a '15)..... A dealer's "doc fee" is maxed at $100... (OP, the $275 is in a GM vehicle). The dealer gets an extra incentive for a vehicle sold on x-plan.

HOWEVER, A ford dealer can sell a vehicle for what ever he wants to.... So I am not sure what "Monkey Business" you're talking about.

If you're looking at a vehicle that been on the lot a LONG time (for example, a left over '14)....x-plan pricing is really NOT that good of a deal at all. I literally walked away from two dealers that insisted x-plan pricing on two different '14's that had been on the lot over a year.

I've NEVER seen any F150 with 9,000 in rebates! NEVER. Exactly how was that broken down?

Maybe $9,000 in TOTAL VALUE. Many of the higher trim levels offer $2,000 as a "PACKAGE DEAL", which only deducts off the MSRP, but it isn't a DIRECT rebate that was taken off the bottom line on the incentive sheet you signed in the finance office.

So, Lets look at this closely... These are incentives for a remaining '14

$1,250 Customer Cash (PGM #12726)
$1,750 XLT Customer Cash (PGM #12694)
$2,000 XLT Luxury Pkg. (PGM #97322)*****************402A Luxury Package ONLY**********
$750 Leather and HID Headlights Pkg. (PGM #97324)
$1,500 Trade-In Assistance Bonus Cash (PGM #30102)
which requires trade-in of 1995 or newer vehicle, or terminate lease 30 days prior to or 90 days after new retail delivery +
$1,250 Ford Credit Bonus Cash (PGM #12728) which requires Ford Credit financing. Not all buyers will qualify for Ford Credit financing.

Ok, that's $8,500 of TOTAL VALUE....All those are NOT rebates.
the 2,000 and the 750 area ALREADY taken off the MSRP in what they call "package discounts".... Its already taken off the price. So, actually on this scenario, its only $5750 in REBATES . . . GM does this crap too to make you THINK its actually that much EXTRA in rebates you're getting, you're not!

****NOTE**** If you don't have a trade-in or finance with Ford, its even less! 1500/1250 less respectively.

Its possible to obtain another rebates if you have an additional one in Ford's VINCENT system. Sometimes they are loyalty rebates, and sometimes a "exclusive" coupon if you had ordered a brochure on the model truck/etc you were looking for. I received an extra $1500 on mine because I had owned a Focus in the past.

Thus, is why I asked for a complete break down of every rebates you got (as on the incentive sheet you signed)... Also, does your sales order say $9,000 in rebates)?

You are in the United States. I am not. There is your answer. It was higher than that at one point or another. I don't know what my sales order says..... I am pretty sure I don't have it. I have my bill of sale and that's it. No it may not have been 9000 total rebates........ so 9000 in incentives then on the FX4. Yeesh. I don't know why I even post...... you guys down there don't get the same rebates we do..... and the trucks here are priced quite a bit higher.

In your case, it probably was different. Heck, I don't look at everyone's location beforehand. Yeah, higher priced trucks, probably more rebates to offset it.

There was the 14 FX4's numbers off the website before we bought the truck..... well we bought that ones twin sibling as that dealer ordered 4 trucks identical with sequential VIN numbers. Let's just call them "price adjustments" like Ford does and leave it at that. The only reason I have that screenshot is from people fighting with me about it last year. $61,279 was it's sticker and it went to $47,288 before I negotiated the rest off it.

Guys up here later in 2014 negotiated trucks further than I did on that 2014. The one took a $58000 and something sticker price and paid $38000 before taxes and fees. The deals on the 2014's were to be had last year.
