Agreed Gary. Got this version (less expensive at $27, maybe lower quality but haven't had issues so far) last year at Princess Auto. Definitely worth the money.

That's just one I found on the interweb. I got one at Autozone maybe 3-4 years ago, priceless.

Right on, I like the flip out "keeper" arm on yours. Could see where it'd be handy. Cheers

Best modifications under -bed-lights.jpg

I had some leftover LEDs at work and have wanted to illuminate the bed of my truck for a while now. So this weekend I finally broke down and set aside the time to get it done. I spent around $25 for the wire, connectors and a cheap on/off switch to do the job.

All said and done I think it took around 3 hours from start to finish. Although a good half hour was spent just looking at the truck while thinking (that can hurt sometimes) and another hour for prepping the LEDs and cleaning the underside of the rails.

If it sounds like there is interest, I will go back and take some more detailed photos of the finished product, and a step by step of how I did it.

I have a few of these cheap mods. my first one was to go buy a replacement cig lighter, along with a 4 way ciglighter, has 4 sockets. i wired the replacement cig up to the battery and ziptied it under the dash. next i plugged the 4 way into the single, giving me 4 auxiliary plugs. i ziptied that under the dash as well. now i can simply plug in my radar detector, flashlight charger, backup camera, and whatever else and all the wiring is hidden as if it is hardwired in.

my next mod, was to build a bracket for the center bumper hole on my 5.0 and mount lights in the center hole. The lights i used are KC Oppolo's, about $150 a set, however, you COULD buy cheap ones and be under the $50 mark.

the bracket is simply a piece of angle iron tacked to the frame rails with 2 mounting tabs welded on it and painted (it aint purdy, but it works)

And since i had a cb, i found a way to mount it nicely, although i did lose the large cubby hole at the bottom.

To do this i took the mounting bracket that runs across the top of the cb, and cut it in half. then i bent the bracket so that each side went straight back along the walls of the cubbyhole. a lot of the bracket will have to be trimmed, i dont remember the measurements. bit i ran sheet metal screws into the sidewalls of the cubbyhole and then put the radio in. it is a perfect fit, the cupholders still work and everything. so anyways, just had to share

High beams alone.

KC Appollo Series with high beams.

Not sure how much the camera will show, but maybe you can tell from it. haha I dont think the camera picks up very far away, but they definitly reach out. might do a bit better if they was mounted higher, but they still do a lot compared to high beams

I bought two of these Princess Auto bars on sale for around $15 each. Definitely handy. They can also double as cabinet or drywall supports depending on the height you're working with so it's a double-win if you're a contractor
