Cool

.....and because I'm in the mood, I decided to do the bed-divider as well.

There's so many nice and easy mods in this thread.... With 2 pieces of 9 LED's I also did the modification on the mirrors and now I have awesome blinkers in my mirror as well! Thanks everybody!

Instead of taking of the whole mirror, I wired it up through the puddle light hole (Don't have puddle lights, just a cap that comes out very easy. A gentle tug on the two wires that you can feel in there, and just enough room to tie in the wires for the LED-strip. Any questions, I would be more than happy to share.....

Have a nice day!

If I have an STX with standard mirrors can I add the blinkers to the mirrors? Currently there is a blank piece of plastic in place of where the amber piece normally would be.

Yes, you can. You need to get the amber reflectors.... Modify the inside/back of them, then your install your LED strip & wires will tap into the rear facing turn signals.
I do have a set of extra reflectors!

Awesome! So I would have to run wiring there wouldn't be a harness or wires already there like how the door handle keypad has it prewired? I would like to inquire about your reflectors kind sir!

On the turn signals already on the mirror side only has 2 wires. (A positive & a negative). All you need to do is run your 2 LED wires to those & tap them in.
Now... If you choose to add puddle lights, you need to run the wires inside to a purple wire that's inside the door. (Again, pretty easy).
But now is the time to do both.... Remove your mirror off the truck, remove the glass & it's a lot easier when the mirror is off the truck.
Shoot me a PM. I have 1 set of reflectors untouched, & one set of reflectors already cut & modified to the back, ready for your LEDS.

I think what hes saying is for those of us that have an stx they litteraly are plain jane mirrors so we dont even have the rear facing turn signals like xlts and up do so there wouldnt be any wires in the mirror for him to tap into its just an empty mirror with a motor , you would have to get new mirrors buddy the wires arent there for an stx it sucks but 1aauto has some decently priced replaement mirrors instead of expsensive oem ones

Thanks for correcting .... Yes, you have to have the turn signals "already" in the mirror assembly that's on the glass side. (Sorry, I forgot some trim models don't have them).
Maybe someone can chime in if they know if the wires are there in the harness on the door side to tap into?

use a wire tap into this violet one the will one on when door is open and eventually shut off. I did use another female/male prong so you can detach it when mirror comes off. I just did my puddles this week end not to bad. Pulling the mirror on the first one feels like your gonna break it, just even pressure till it pops. 4 star screws and disconnect heating wire if you got em. if you can find a insert for the wire pop it in on the other side and its there. I grounded where the mirror screws on.

Yes, that'll work for the puddle lights, but the question is: what wires & colors gets tapped for front LED turn signals. His mirror does NOT have rear facing (under the mirror glass) turn signals, so he would have to tap into ...? Which wire for that?

Wow, 11 years later and I'm just hearing stx's don't have the driver facing directional's. I never knew that.
I just assumed, and you know what they say about that!
