5' in Alberta. Well 1.5 meters lol. However I've heard many times that a hitch insert while not towing a trailer.

Really? Damn...I see a cop (dad of a friend) driving around while off duty in his 07 F-150 with a hitch on the back...better call him on that. I keep mine on all the time for the sake of parking at the mall, when people inevitably back into my truck (has happened twice with the hitch on). Plus it's ease of access when I hook up to my trailer often..and the lock that goes on the end of the hitch pin is seized so I couldn't get it off without an angle grinder anyway

I just bought some off ebay for 35$ shipped. I'm going with half inch plate and grade 8 bolts. I'm a little worried about the angular force applied to the tube but it shouldn't come into play unless I'm trying to jerk out my tractor with a 100' sling. Yes it works but it can be a wild ride.
