Yes, it leaves an exposed area on the wire where it cut through the coating. You can just wrap it in electrical tape, liquid E-tape, or whatever, but if you're going to keep the truck you'll want to patch it with something so it won't corrode or short out on something.
I pulled the wire loom back and cut all the way through the reverse light wire about 3" behind the plug. I used a butt connector (1 wire in - 2 wires out) and used heat shrink to keep it dry on top of that. Pulled the loom back over it and electrical taped it back the way it was.

Yes, i know that is not the best use of a butt connector but I like that and trust it better than the scotch-locks.

I did them right on the truck. I didn't even tape the tire. Just feed a garbage bag through the spokes around the back of the tire to cover the rotors. Super easy. When I was done I just peeled the over spray of the tire. Came off in one piece.

Exactly. It's super easy. Just make sure you cover those rotors!

Anyone have the mod where they mounted LEDs under their step rail or nerf bars? I'm looking to have the LEDs come on when you unlock the truck with the keyless remote..

I bet they would look sweet but where I am in Michigan they'd get ruined by salt and snow buildup under the bars. I bet in Florida it would work though.

I saw them somewhere on the forum but I can't find them for the life of me.
