When you did the PTM grille with the spray paint, what kind of prep did you have to do and did you top it off with clear coat? How does it look up close? I'm just really interested in doing the same thing and want to know what I'm getting into. Thanks

About $5 for the actuator on Ebay plus whatever wire, loom, screws you need. Did mine for around $25.
Do you have a link for the actuator?

When I did mine, I scuffed the crap out of it. But you could use sand paper as well, jut something not too course. When done with that make sure you clean it really good. I had the auto body supply shop mix me up a couple of cans of paint using the paint code. It looks good, there's a bit more metallic flake in the paint on the grille that is a little noticeable up close. But still looks good, I can take a close up picture later and post it.

Some of my low-cost mods...

Blackout F150 badges and mirror reflectors (SEM satin black trim paint, removed painted, reinstalled. Not plastidip):

Blackout Hood (3M 1080 vinyl):

Rail mounted mountain bike carrier (Yakima Bedhead, under rail reinforcement, L-track rear hold down):

Horse stall mats for winter traction:

iPad Nav mount (RAM mount components)

Roush Vent-pod gauge mount (gauge not included):

Paddle shift mod (duplicates +/- button functionality on shifter). This was a prototype, but it worked so well I never went to V2:

Also, LED motion sensor bed lights, door chime delete, HID fog/headlight upgrade, USB2 mod, V1 mirror mount, and quite a few 'just a bit more expensive' mods! This thread is out of date, but shows some of them. https://www.f150forum.com/f38/build-...fx4-tt-100373/
