Exactly what I was envisioning filling the hole.

so tools and materials are
1-Metal Lock in Gutter Cover, black- Lowes $2.98
4-black bulldog paper clips- free from supply closet

tools
tin snips and tape measure
Time: about 20-30 minutes.

here is the product at the store

how it looks normally

after some measuring, cutting and bending

on the truck

the way I made it pretty much will hold itself in place but I used the bulldog clips to secure it better on the backside and just remove the little chrome handles the have on them. Just attached them to the upper part of the bumper where the plate holder clips into and down on the bottom. I probably could have taken more time and made it a bit more precise but I think it looks awesome.
bro.. that is freaking sweet. I only shop at home depot and they only carry a galvanized thin mesh that looks like doodoo.. that mesh is perfect. Im going to swing by tomorrow and steal your great idea

Thanks, I maybe should have gone with a 2x8 but for a first attempt it works. The clamps were only around $20 each from Amazon, so I'm right at $50 all in.

I still dont understand the purpose of front plates. cops always park behind you when they pull you over anyways.

it is perfect and you should do it! Thats why I shared it. Gloss black powder coating too. Even if it only last a year or 2 its cheap enough to buy a couple and have laying around. I keep thinking about what else I could use it for. Lowes had sheets of different cut metals but the price was stupid and the look was too. I was just on my way to the lumber to see if they had any expanded metal that I could paint and saw these.

Wow, that aught to peel the paint off the garage door if parked too close! What bulbs are those, h3's? Looks good Justin146, and is that a smitybuilt light bar? I've been thinking about getting one. Also, have you considered matching the headlight bulb the that kelvin color?

So, looking at this, you need to actually cut a hole through the bumper? What took did you use to complete that task? How difficult?
By the way love the lights

I have similar lights, mine are made by Rigid, but same concept. Looks like he drilled the 4 holes and then likely "connected the dots" with a jig saw. I did this and even with painters tape like he has I still managed to scratch my bumper a bit.

On the other side I drilled the same 4 holes and used a 4" angle grinder and that worked better. A small air powered die grinder would work best.

Be sure to "treat" the bare metal edges prior to mounting. I painted the edges with several coats of a rust preventative paint, Rust-X I think its called. Then, I Plastidipped the entire area underneath the light and also the backside of the bumper. I had a couple cans left over so I used that. o issues so far, think I have had mine over a year.

I would suggest the Rigids from TAP Auto best prices and quality.
