Maybe the 5000 pound load feels like 9000 pounds because he drives and ecoboost

LOL, I don't know!! I know my combination feels pretty heavy after towing it with a modified 7.3, and now this 5.0!

If not for the towing requirement would have been happy with either engine...........

Oh... Please.....
They're all good motors & no need to exaggerate numbers....
My 5.0 with 3:73 gears 35" tires and 6"lift towed 7000# with absolutely no issue at all.
They all are good motors and none of them are "perfect" and have their own issues or quirks.
Even though I was impressed with my buddies EcoBoost, I just can't justify a V6 in a full size truck.
I want that American V8 muscle...so that's what I bought and built my truck the way that I did for me.... Not anyone else.
So the debate/battle will never end.... So buy what you like & want to suit their needs.
Don't like ?... Trade it in & don't bitch about it.
If one tows a lot & a heavy load, one may consider a bigger truck and/or a diesel.
For "here & there" recreational towing & pulling, and the load not being overloaded and within the trucks "specs" that its capable of...ANY one of our trucks will do the job, with ANY of the motors.

I gotta agree. NO WAY is that 9000. Not even close

I'm about to go on a 1200 mile round trip with this 6000K load. Have full confidence in my 5.0
All these motors are capable.

About 6500 loaded for the lake. Truck absolutely could not hang with the bigger tires, and physically broke the truck (CEL, 4 codes thrown) ford couldn't fix it, so I tossed it. 5.0 3.55s with 50k.

I also tow an L45 which is 7130lbs with the back hoe and FEL! Trailer is 3000 lbs +....... I simply posted a picture of the smaller Kubota cause that's all I had handy. So yes 5k is about right with the smaller set up but the L45 and trailer is well over 9000 lbs. Say what ya want but my buddies 5.0 isn't even close to the 3.5 towing the same weight!
