Default Best Auxiliary Reverse Lights?

Hey guys and gals, hope everyone is enjoying their weekend!

I have a quick question regarding adding some auxiliary reverse lights. I want a little more than the LED's that I added into the taillight housing. I plan on mounting two lights under the rear bumper. I still haven't figured out if I want to run a relay and switch, or just tap into the existing reverse light wire. Anyways...

After searching and reading a couple different threads on other people's installs, I was wondering what the general consensus is on that the best lights are for this application? I went to my local auto parts store and was not too impressed with the selection. I hooked up a couple pairs to a battery in store to test the output, and was even more unimpressed. I don't need a rigid industries light bar on the back, but would like to have something to aid backing up in dark areas. I would prefer a whiter light with a balanced distribution pattern (maybe LED?)... Not too wide, not too narrow. Lastly, I would like to keep it under ~ $80.

Thanks for the help in advance guys!

That could be a good idea, I would like to see it as well! I wonder if you could get a projector housing with HID bulbs and mount it into the bumper? My concern there would be if it would hold up to the elements or not... I am leaning towards a sealed unit, whichever one that may be.

I have the Recon fire and ice tailgate LED bar so it turns white when I put the truck into reverse. It works great

Its awesome! I was driving of the base one day and I got pulled over by an MP because it was too bright. the MPs here are ridiculous. He told me to take it off, but I didnt. Ive passed him many times at night and he doesnt say anything anymore. I got it for about $100 of eBay. Its my favorite mod to my truck so far

Its so easy to install to. take out your left taillight and quick connect some wires and youre done. I'd recommend putting some clear silicone on the end of the tube to prevent water leaks and electrical tape over the wire for added protection

Thanks a lot for the pointers dude, this could be a viable option!
Regarding the MP's, you need to rig up a switch and relay so you can intentionally switch on the reverse lights when you see him around... Haha.
