Default Bed extender with box liner advice

Hi all, I just received my bed extender and want to install it in my truck with the Ford plastic bed liner. Do the 4 plastic plugs go into the box of the truck behind the box liner or over the box liner and then into the metal of the bed?

I dont want to make the hole any bigger in the box liner if i dont need to.

Thanks.

They'll actually need to go under the bed liner, as will the pivot bolts. I was told by the dealer these accessories are not able to be used together.

Example: The plastic drop in bed liner and the bed extender. The pivot bolts may not be long enough to allow for the bed liner.

Show some pics when you get it all installed.

Good luck.

that's funny because the dealer here has them both installed on 3 trucks, and the bed liner has spots for rubber feet from the bed extender. Anyway, i tried on one side to put the grommet thru both and it didnt work, so you're right, it needs to under the bed liner. ill post some pics when I'm done.

Got it installed. Grommets under the bed liner. It wont completely lock when in the bed, but it is still secured, as someone else mentioned if you remove the rubber feet it works. But when its in the bed, there is really no reason for it to be completely locked.
When it is extended outside the bed it DOES lock securely.
Special thanks to Tasca, i ordered it and the HD taillights at 10 am and it was delivered the next day by 3pm!!
