Bed cargo management options
Howdy,
Didn't think it was cost effective to order the factory CMS or bed extender but now I'd like to find bin options as well as some kind of cargo holder for the bed. I like how the extender clamps on inside the bed to hold you gear in the last couple feet of the bed. Want something similar.
I tried searching around but didn't have much luck. Any suggestions?

You haven't dug for enough --- there's all kinds of cargo management tools on the web - from nets, to single bars, to - well you name it. I searched these out some time ago and finally decided the best was the Ford OEM bed extender. Those that allegedly clamp tight against the inside of the bed never seemed to fit tight enough, or stand up straight, or whatever.
If you can't find a OEM, then Westin makes a very similar item. Just go back to work with Google - you'll find em.

Yeah, I did search around but I'm posting because I want first hand experience telling me what is good/bad. I had checked out the Ford bed extender and CMS but it seemed very pricey and not worth while. That may turn out to not be the case....not the first time I've made a bad assumption.
Thanks for the input.

For me, the bed extender was a $350 option (I did not order, it was on the lot). Its a heavy plastic that will fold out of the way and almost totally flat, to the sides. Sadly, what is a $350 Cdn option on an order, is $550+ as an aftermarket part.
In general, its great- it will make a little catch basin facing out, or in, so when you are carrying groceries for example, latch it up, put up the tailgate, and the eggs don't get broken. I recently bought a few sheets of plywood, folded those inwards, and it did not interfere with the wood. With 2 body screws, I can totally remove these.
I rate this 4 out of 5, price notwithstanding.
Check craigslit, or ebay, maybe there is a lower cost option, but I like the extender.

I too have the factory bed extender (plastic) and love it. Folds away nicely so it is not in the way, works great when you need it. I bought my aftermarket from Tasca ford as they had the best price.
You can watch eBay or Craigslist and find them on the occasion as well.

Not sure if you are looking for the bed extender or something to restain cargo within the box.
I have a very cheap cargo management system to keep cargo from sliding around inside the box. It's a 2X10 cut to fit in the grooves about 20" or so in from the tailgate area. Works well for me. Keeps luggage, boxes and other large items from moving around. Another forum member made a subcompartment (a 2x6 perpendicular to the main board) so he could keep his groceries and other small goods from rolling around.
For what it's worth, here's a pic of my super cheap CMS system:

Good shot and good idea.
I have used that wood too, as well as a cargo net extendable pole I always have up front in bed, just behind cab.
Also, you have one of the most useful itms anyone can get for their bed: a good rubber mat.
Thanks
