backup camera

yeah I looked into it, and not worth it. the tail gate doesn't have the wiring in it, you need to buy the camera that is built into the ford badge. and also buy the mirror, not sure if there is any other wiring, but your looking well over a thousand dollars.

Theres a thread on here about the back up camera, you can find them on ebay for 75 bucks then wire it to LCD display your looking at about $80 for that, or if your truck dont have Sync you can get a mirror for an 08 F150 with the LCD screen built in too it. The reason if you have Sync your mirror has a built in mic for the bluetooth on your phone, and the 08 dont have the mic. IMO its not that expensive of an upgrade I've ordered everything, just hoping it gets here soon so I can install it.

I bought a 2009 OEM F150 mirror with the display from the same ebay seller that is selling the cameras. Mirror cost me $110 which is a steal compared to the $350-$399 the same Gentex mirror costs without the mic.
I'm waiting on a few connectors to actually do the install and will try and and write it up and take a few pics of the process. So far looks like the biggest challenge will be converting the 10-pin connector from the standard mirror over to a 16-pin connector for the display mirror. I'm going to make a short adapter harness that will plug into the original 10-pin mirror connector and have the new 16-pin connector on the other end so I don't have to cut any factory wires.
You can use a Gentex display mirror and mount a seperate mic. I'd mount the mic in the overhead console.

uh oh, maybe I missed some information somewhere. Is #14335 the actual connector and harness coming out of the back of the mirror?
I had done some research including trips to two different dealers and they couldn't even come up with a pigtail kit for that connector. More info or a link please?
I've been wrestling with this part of the mod.
