Back up camera install
Ok fellas I purchased an 09 2wd ruby red. I love it cant get enough of it. The only thing lacking was a backup camera, I have a ski boat that I use frequently.
On to the goods.
I purchased this:

along with this
Here it is all laid out on the work bench

The first step is to take off sun visors and the catch piece, then pull straight down on each side of the sunglasses holder.

Next you want to remove both A pillars. The right is removed with the 2 bolts in the handle, and the left is removed by just pulling on it.

At this point I removed factory mirror and installed the lcd mirror. The headliner has enough play in it to run the wires. You want to run them to the left a pillar and down. Then you will remove what looks like a fuse box panel. My truck had no fuses behind it. (sorry for not detailed pictures in these next steps, as I was more focused on finishing than anything)

Then you want to remove the lower kick panel along with the ford step panel

Now the fun part. You must splice in a power wire to the mirror wire you ran from the mirror down to the (fuse) box. Connect a ground wire. I found a bolt connected to body inside fuse box. This particular mirror has a green wire that you must tie into the reverse signal. I Found this kind of silly so i just spliced the green wire into the power wire. I only want power going to the mirror when reverse is selected. once all wires are spliced and connected then you can either spend an hour trying to find a place to route the input wire and power wire to the underside of the truck or you can drill a half inch hole like i did and silicone it up.

Next step is to run the 2 wires to the back of the truck. I don't have any pictures of this. I tied my power wire into the Trailer connection port, and grounded the camera wire to another chassis bolt. then installed the camera with double sided tape (commercial grade) in the top side of the bumper underneath tailgate. Tailgate still has clearance.

Then put truck in reverse and worked like a charm! Camera is also waterproof
Will get way better pictures in the near future for you guys

Another thing. You can notice a microphone going vertical behind the mirror.
the mirror that I bought doesnt have the sync microphone built into it. I tooke apart my oem mirror and basically put the microphone back in the truck. I can go into detail if you guys want.

Several grommets on the truck, you don't need to drill holes.
I went with the OEM style camera and cheap eBay screen. Waiting for replacement screen since they sent me one covered in scratches.

True. But with the input wire end being big in diameter, it was tough using the grommets nearby without taking off more panels. I am fine with drilling the hole.

Keep us posted on how that camera works out. From the Amazon reviews it sounds like some have crapped out after a while. Good luck.
