Default Axle code 27 on 2010

I've been looking around trying to find my rear axle ratio. Its 27 on my door sticker. I cant find it in my owners manual. and after searching, people have put different answers. anyone have an official link or know for sure? I believe its 3.31 non limited slip, which kind of bums me out, but I just want to be sure. I included a picture of my door sticker. Thanks for any help!

cool, thanks man. Is it really that big of a difference off roading with an open and limited slip? I have a 2wd, I don't plan on doing anything crazy, but would like to be able to get through a decent amount of sand and mud. And just out of curiosity, anyone know if its possible/affordable to upgrade to a 3.73 LS, oem parts preferred. but thanks again!

Your truck's window sticker:

With good tires and airing down, a 2wd should do ok on mild trails with some sand and mud but I wouldn't do it with a 2wd.

If you can find a 3.73 stock rear used from someone that upgraded it might make financial sense but buying new parts would probably be expensive.

Be careful, that's almost the exact 2010 I had, same powertrain and body. I got it stuck more than once in places that shouldn't be a problem. The one wheel bandit is awful.

yea I've been reading about this all day. When I bought my truck I couldnt even tell you what a differential was lol. It seems everyone has a different opinion on this. From what i read the traction control will brake the spinning wheel thus giving power to the wheel that has traction, kind of working like a LSD. But it also cuts engine power which takes away your momentum. I heard the 2011 has one wheel slip control even when traction control is off, but the 2010 does not. anyone know for sure?

yea my truck is mainly a commuter and used for hauling. So i really could get away with my set up. However like a month ago i was on a dirt road after a ton of rain and i barely made it up this pretty steep hill. and my buddy's truck with a locker did it no problem. However I still had stock 2wd tires with 26k miles on them. I want to throw some ATs on it, should help a lot! I would really like to upgrade to a 3.73 LS for the better off roading and towing, but not worth it to me if its more than like $400.

But thanks for sharing your experience! I've learned a ton since being on this forum.

hey guys, i've read the whole thread....

gotta ask....

i've got a 2010 screw 4x4 with a 3.55.....
could i get someone to explain all this stuff to me.

if it helps, when i was at a dead stop and kicked the traction control off, i punched it and found that i got 2 tire ruts in the grass.

i'm not a gear head, but would love to learn a bit about it.

thank you

This video explains differentials a little bit.

I'm not very good at this stuff either, but it sounds like you have a Limited slip differential, which is good for off roading. The gear can also help performance. For example, with my STX SCAB the towing max with my 3.31 is 8100, but with my same model with the 3.73 it is 9500 i believe.

Hope this helps and is accurate
