To the OP: That's why it's called Darwinism.

I didn't realize those windows were capable of decapatating something...if only there was a feature that reversed them when it feels resistance.

Oh wait.

You can get all defensive if you want, but let's face it. You made some mistakes that you got lucky, that it didn't end with much worse consequences.
Most pet stores sell restraint harnesses for just about any size dog.
They tie into the vehicles existing seat belt. We have two big greyhounds and they always travel in the back seat space with the seats flipped and a couple of dog beds on the floor. The dogs wear the harness and the tether is attached to the trucks seat belt. Cost around $25.
Pets should never travel in the front seat period. They do unexpected things.
You shouldn't blame the vehicle manufacturer for not designing so that your dog might do the unexpected.

OP, ignore the guys who just like to find excuses to call others idiots. They exist on every forum. Your question is a valid one and the wisdom of your decision to let the pup ride shotgun is irrelevant (for the record I do the same thing). Unfortunately I don't have an answer to offer except perhaps pulling the passenger switch out and replacing it with a single position toggle.

<<<@!2!@>>>

I read where a cat pulled open the door, pushed out the owner, and then drove away. This COULD happen!

So much for no pet seat belts, eh?
BTW ... Notice which seat the pet is belted into?

My '11 window locks all windows except the drivers window. Even the front passenger is locked. My buddies '09 is the same way. Perhaps this changed at some point??

Review of the owner's manuals (2009-2014) indicates that in 2011 it was the beginning of the window lock feature not locking-out the LH (passenger) front window controls.

That being said ... My 2011 also locks-out the LH (passenger) front window controls. It's probably a build-date issue/thang.
