On my 2013, I find the auto up switches do not have enough of a definition between manual up and auto up. My wife's 2004 Freestar switches work much better, You can feel the switches difference between the 2 modes. Same for my dad's brand new 2015 Fusion. Everyone that has used them in my truck has mentioned how hard it is to get a feel for the switches for either mode.

No dis' however, as a responsible driver and pet owner/care-taker .....
Why the hell would you permit an untethered, uncontained pet in the front seat area of your vehicle?
Pets deserve (and should get) restraint measures in a vehicle just like ANY of it occupants.

WOW,did some people get hit with the bar rag last nite,or perhaps the ol lady put a whoppin on ya ***.THANKS first to those whom had good intent.As for the rest of the life wasters,find a bridge,save us from your usless comments.If ,the idiots read it right,I DID HAVE A LEASH ON THE DOG.Dogs do not wear seat belts,NO I'M not going to look for an air bag.My question,was for people that actually understand electrical circuts,or basic car info.Not for forum bashers.For those whom THINK simply hitting the disable button on the driver side.WELL,sorry,your misinformed ,as others posted,it ONLY DISABLES the rear seats.Therefore,UNLESS YOU KNOW SOMETHING FOR SURE,pass commenting on the subject,only proves what you dont know,but thanks for the uneducated guesses.STUPID THREAD,well ,lLets hope its not YOUR KID,dog whatever that manages to get the window down,yep I know,kid seats,seat belts blah blah,but accidents happen,I AM A FIRST RESPONDER saw it all,which is what I'm trying to avoid,and why I asked a simple question,not looking for a safety speech.

- pets should not be transported in the front seat.
- the so called leash you had attached did not restrict the animal reaching window switches.

Guess common sense is not a requirement to be a "FIRST RESPONDER" in your area nor is not overreacting and flying-off the handle.

A quick Google search brings up many mentions of the pet hitting the window switch, either closing the window on their head or opening the window and jumping out.
Given that you cannot lock the front windows, transporting in the back seat would seem the safest option, with the windows locked.
Grabbing a leash when you're doing 70 brings up the question of what if the dog had jumped into your area of the vehicle instead... Yikes!

You guys bring up good points about front seat pets...not to mention a deployed air bag will terminate a pet.
My 70lb hound mix rides on the rear floor now. He used to ride on the back seat, but his cover from the 2006 FX4 didn't fit the same with the new seats as I couldn't sandwhich it between the seat supports like I did in the '06...because there are no supports. Short trips, like 15 mins to the vet he just rests on the floor mat. Long trips we put his bed on the floor. This keeps him pretty well contained and mostly out of harms way. I know he should be tethered in the event of a collision, but I just never had made the investment and I'm sure I'm going to regret that someday.
