Monitor: Perhaps this thread could be summarized into a "write-up" and made a sticky? Just a thought.
The problem is: The ICM code (at least) is different for different truck configurations .. i.e. bed length, engine, drive train, cab length, etc..

Ok, so why would one have to change the ICM code if they were just activating the auto headlight feature? Seems like it would be just an on/off or yes/no in the BCM codes. Essentially that's all that's done from the steering wheel with some of the message center options.

I don't know for sure, that the ICM has to be changed, if you are willing to setup the "delay" manually. Otherwise, the delay is set via the instrument cluster information.

Dug into this a bit more this AM. First, it is impossible for me to get into motorcraftservice.com to get my "as built" dtata, or for any other truck. So, I'm stuck. I tried I.E., Firefox and Safari, including taking out the pop-up blocker. No luck.

However, reading post #189 by Golfen gives us a bit of a hint that we only need to change a few lines. Doing the three lines below gave him a delay control function and enabled his aut-headlamps:

ICM 720-01-01 change to FF9E 3030 81A7 (enables delay option in message center)
BCM 726-09-01 change to 0100 38
BCM 726-12-01 change to 0001 000C 4D (enables the light sensor)

Pretty sure I can get the IDS guy at the local dealer to do this, but, am I oversimplifying?

Maybe not, give it a shot.

Ok, success! I had my dealer use IDS to enter Goldfen's two lines of BCM code and we're in business. The codes are:

726-09-01, change from 0000 37, to 0100 38
726-12-01, change from 0000 000F 4F to 0001 000C 4D

Naturally, you have to swap out the headlight switch for one with the auto headlights (and fog lights if you have 'em) capability, plus the light sensor. Part numbers and sources are covered in detail earlier in this thread.

This gets you in business with auto headlights. This works on 2011 - 2013 model years. For 2014 Ford's bean counters removed the necesary wiring, so in that case you're out of luck.

If you want the delay feature to show on the Message Center you have to alter an ICM code. That gets really dicey and IMHO isn't worth the trouble. You can reset the delay feature manually to whatever time up to 3 minutes you desire. Procedure is:

1) Start with ignition switch off and the headlight switch in auto position
2) Turn the headlight switch to the "OFF" position
3) Put the ignition switch in the "RUN" position
4) Put the ignition switch in the "OFF" position
5) Put the headlight switch in the "AUTO" position. (Exterior lights come on)
6) Wait your desired amount of headlight delay up to 3 ninutes and tuern the headlight switch to the "OFF" position. Your time delay is now set to that interval, up to three minutes.

Hope this helps!

I've got a 2014 STX Crew. I purchased the sunload sensor and connector, spliced the wire into the return circuit at 294a, obtained a pin and tapped into pin 30 at c2280a, and changed the as-built data in the IC and BCM. Then, I found the above entry. Have you added this circuit yet? I can get to it in the next few days. I missed the fact that this wire was missing. Have you tried installing it? Sucess? Without it, data logger acknowledges the light levels at the sunload sensor correctly, but also sees open circuit at the headlight switch due to this missing wire. The dash lights dim correctly, but still no dice on the autolights. I won't give up!!

Please tell. What part number risk the wire? Do you have the wire for light sensor? I don't have that and quit. If I can buy another wireason and make work, SWEET!
Please let me know

The part number for the pigtail at the light sensor is 6U2Z-14S411-JB. I obtained the terminals for the BCM, SCCM and headlight switch from a harness I had in the shop. The part numbers are: C2414a pin 17 at the SCCM, 8U5T-14474-BA.
This wire need to go to the headlight switch, C205, pin 4, 3F2T-14474-SA. The light sensor needs to be installed with the pigtail listed above, and pin 4 from the sensor needs to tap into the grey with blue wire at the hvac module pin 23. Pin 2 needs to go to the BCM c2280b, pin 30, terminal part number 9U5T-14474-YA.
Then the as-built data needs to be changed as stated in previous posts. I changed the BCM and IC. The IC still doesn't let me adjust the stay on time, but its like 10 seconds.
