Am I understanding correctly that you bought them, had them shipped to Canada, and after you found them to be damaged you sent them to California?

By how many posts you have and the relatively short time you have been on here, seems you "waste" a lot of time too.

I don't get why people just can't leave a thread without posting something stupid. Oh well.
2 years? That's so short. You've been here 2 months. That makes you know soooo much.
What I don't understand how something can be beat to death and has a resolution, yet you still want more. just chalk it up as a bad debt expense and move on.

My take on this is.....

If the seller had said he would refund the shipping, you have a gripe, otherwise, I would say your on your own.

My point being this, when my wife orders something from a catolog or online, she can return it, but the buyer pays the return shipping. As I buy quite a bit online, that is always something that I check prior to making a purchase, as I have had to eat $100 shipping bills.

From the pictures, the damage appeared to happen from being dropped/tossed, I generally pack stuff I am shipping so it is prepared for careless handlers, I have had to live through a couple shipping mishaps, even though my packages were packed extra well.

I offered up 2sets of speakers for free, but guess what? The recipient didn't want to pay $25 for the shipping, point being, lots of people cheap out on insurance. So, OP,makers these insured?

What I'm hearing is that OP wants Matt to refund the shipping that OP spent to send the mirrors to CA? Matt refunded OP's money, the fact that OP up and shipped these things to CA is his own problem, if OP would have just taken the money he would have functioning (yet damaged) mirrors for free.... Seems to me like Matt took care of his responsibilities.

But I could be reading all of this wrong....

Guys - timeline as follows for those not quite clear on it:

1. Matt purchased mirrors from a guy in California.
2. Matt posts his ad about mirrors on this forum.
3. I purchase mirrors - he ships to Canada (I paid over list to cover extra shipping to Canada)
4. Mirrors arrive in condition shown in my photos. Packaging was not damaged and not opened at the border. I contact Matt regarding the problems and he gets his money refunded from the guy in California and says USPS won't cover him. He offers to send me a different set either from another seller (Craigslist) or from Tasca. I file a paypal dispute to make sure my original purchase cost is protected w/in the 45 day dispute period.
5. Matt requests that I send the broken mirrors back to the guy in California whom Matt purchased from to save extra shipping costs. As seen in my emails - he also promised that he would refund the money for me shipping them for him. Spectragod AricsFX

chadderkdawg - You are. How would keeping the mirrors for free after getting my original purchase refunded be considered anything but dishonest? Part of the reason the thread was started is to protect people on this forum from getting swindled. Oh, and the money I was promised.

singlespeeder!!!! I know the feeling with ordering stuff from the states and licking up at border with excellent shipping boxes only to find a damaged product inside. I purchased a Hob Box for my truck online and picked it up, box was mint, paid my duty checked the package seemed fine. Got home took out of box only to find the kid damaged ended up being too big of a hassle to ship back so just ended up keeping and eating it!! Not quite the sane issues you have butcibknowcytrcferking about being Canadian And buying from the states!!

I would say if you have proof of this, then you have a leg to stand on, otherwise everytime I've ever gotten anything from the internet and had to return it I've had to pay for return shipping therefore I fell the same would apply here as well.

No offense to anyone, just my 2 cents.

I'm only speaking as to what I would have done, I would have asked Matt to make the situation right with me, regardless of who he bought the item from, that is between Matt and the person he bought them from. Once I was refunded completely, if someone wanted me to send the mirrors back, they would have fronted the shipping cost, or I would have pitched them. Nothing dishonest about that in my eyes.

Edit: however if Matt said "I'll refund you the cost to ship these to CA" then Matt needs to stand by his word and do so.

I agree completely. His email stating that he would reimburse me is posted earlier in the thread. Which also why I had no issue shipping them to California on his behalf.
