Anyone got a Backrack (or alternative) on their '09/'10?
I'm considering buying a Backrack for my '10 SCAB and wondered if anyone on the Forum has one on their truck already... thoughts on it? Would you buy one again / wouldn't? Any alternatives you looked at / would choose instead next time? Thanks for any pointers.
Also, if anyone who has a Backrack has any pictures that illustrate the 'clearance' of the whole frame above the roof of the cab (or is it pretty much same height?) that would be useful. As well as being damn handy for securing objects to in the bed, one of the main jobs I'd hope it could do for me is to support our canoe (17ft into a 6.5ft bed just does not go ) which I would secure at the tailgate and then use the rack to 'boost' it up over the cab and tie it down to. Hence I'm interested in pictures or details concerning the clearance of the whole frame, height of top bar, width at the top etc, etc...
If anyone has any alternative suggestions as to how best to to carry a '17 canoe I'm all ears....

is this something u need all the time or just for the canoe? u might almost be able to make one or find one that fits in the stakeholes when needed.

I have a Back Rack on my 09 SCAB, 6.5 bed. Like it a lot, no problems would buy again etc. Easy to install, easy to remove if need be.
Two vertical tubes stick up about 1" higher than cab roof. I will have to look to see if the topmost horizontal slat does too - I am guessing not, but I will let you know.
Pictures posted below in another post a few down.
Thanks.

Thanks for the info and thoughts guys. That TracRack setup would be ideal Gato... but the $ not so much
My original idea was to probably make something myself if a BackRrck (or similarly priced rack) wasn't suitable so that looks like the way I may have to go johnwill if the horizontal bar is indeed lower than cab height.

Thanks Gator that system looks pretty flexible and probably heavy duty enough for what I need and definitely not a bad price. It's going on the list of possible solutions for sure...

Here's mine...spent $40 in steel from metal yard, $20 in lights, $10 in wiring, $20 in paint, and maybe 10 hours total in welding, sanding, primer, paint.
