Anyone Else Not Happy With the Sony Sound System?

I have the 2011 Sony and very happy with but it doesn't take much to please me on the stereo.
I tested mine due to this post and AC on max, rolling down my windows one at a time, I only had to increase the volume to 60-70%, all running at 80mph.
Once I increased SCV to 7, I had to turn the volume close to 50%.
Might want to check your SCV setting.

I have a 2010 FX4 with the Sony/Sync system and I also find the front speakers are the main downfall. I have played with the settings quite a bit and find that they seem to be pushed beyond their usable limit before I have the settings where I would like them.
Also wouldn't mind a more powerful sub and a NON-plastic box but I don't think it will work unless you use a piggy back amp to work along side the SYNC system.
What are you guys replacing your speakers/and or subs with?

I didn't have the Sony System just the 6 disc, sync, whatever system. The front door speakers were replaced with 6.5" components with the tweeters mounted up in the a-pillar part of the door. 5x7 co-axials went in the rear doors and a 10" slim-mount sub with a 300rms amp went under the rear seat. I kept the factory HU so the dash would look stock. Only thing else it needs now is an amp on the door speakers to help with the mids. It's tempting to go tablet though...

Correct, Speed Compensation Volume. The OP mentioned that he drives a lot with the windows down on the highway. SCV will increase the volume the faster he goes to compensate for wind noise and decrease when he slows down. Just as you would do manually. When I had the volume at about 70% and then bumped SCV all the way up, it got even louder and allowed me to decrease the volume to maintain the same or increase to get even louder. Maybe his setting is Off or set to 1 and increasing might help his situation and definitely worth checking out.

I would recommend trying a more efficient set of speaker's in the front door's 1st, I think putting more speaker's under the back seat would mess up the sound stage? may be louder but the sound quality would suffer. Try a set in the front door's first should make a pretty good difference. Try crutch field very helpful an knowledgeable a more efficient speaker would be like more power.

I did polk audio components in front. Polk 5x7 in rear. Added lc2i. An amp and a jl cp208. Sounds amazing. Cost me 800 total. And I had it done in 2 days with never touching a stereo in my life before. Easy peasy.

It's aight! The audophile in me wants to change it out for some focals... but I'll just wait till I blow one of the speakers and can't stand the rattling anymore... wonder how long that should take...
