Anybody have the latest model Escape in their stable?
Looking at a new mid-sized UTE for my Wife's daily driver. Considering the 13+ Escape with the 2.0L Ecoboost motor and AWD drivetrain. Any concerns, gotchas, or pitfalls with the latest generation Escape platform? Would love to hear input from other F150 owners out there with an Escape.

Wife has a 14 Escape S with 2.5 non ecobust and loves it, fuel economy is fabulous, only option extra was rear view cam and sync.
There are a couple of recall's on it that just came out but seem minor, one being an adjustment on door latches and other is reprogramming the air bag computer, dealer don't even have all the info on it yet.

Looking at these ourselves. What's wrong with the EB 2.0 on this platform? The 2.5 she said was kinda underpowered.

When we were looking at them there was a major recall on the eco fuel system with possible of catching on fire. Power is plenty for the city driving she does and has noticed it's getting a little better as it breaks in. Fuel economy is also better than when it was brand new, has almost 10000 miles on it and not one problem.

We drove a 2.0L eco escape out to Colorado for a ski trip. Some things were good but overall I was not impressed. The power was definitely there. The MPGs were not in my view. We maxed at 20 MPG on the hwy, usually around 19. We were going 75 mph but just like the trucks it seems if you are in the boost the MPGs are not great. It also had a strange hard down shift that shook the whole vehicle at hwy speed that we could reproduce on demand, could be it just needed a pcm update. I also did not like the drivers cockpit, my right leg dug into the center console pretty bad. Overall cargo space wasn't great with 4 adults. It performed well in the snow. I don't mind the looks and liked the power but I don't think I would pick one up. I've not driven an Explorer to compare.

Wife's non boost 2.5 DOHC is getting 27 mpg city she said. We chose wisely I think.

That's right about the same thing my wife's 2002 and 2003 Escapes were getting with the same engine.
When you start pumping more air into an engine it has to be diluted with more fuel for proper operation.
Calling the ecoboost platform eco is an oxymoron at best.

My wife has a 2014 titanium Escape with the big Eco- boost (2.0)! She loves it and it really is a blast to drive. She got the tri- color white which is a really nice color! Not that we ever will, but hers will tow 3500#. Only 2 options she doesn't have are the panoramic roof and the HID headlights. Dealer didn't have one in white with the HIDs or we would've got them! They're one of the best options on my FX4! Mileage is a little disappointing, she's getting 21 to 23 with about 4000 on vehicle so far!
