Default Any ideas on installing a 12v or outlet in the bed

My bed is covered by a Tunneu cover. I'd like to put a outlet and/or 12 volt outlet somwhere in there to charge tools and keep them out of the way. I would like to keep it out of the way as much as possible.

Toyota has something like this in the bed of their Tacomas...
No idea where to begin..any ideas

Since the truck doesn't have an inverter installed, I would suggest just putting a 12v power point back there. You should look at the marinized ones (stainless steel with a waterproofing seal). Take a look at West Marine or defender.com for options on that.
As for the wire, you'll want to run at a minimum of 12AWG to and fuse it for 10A.
If you want to go larger than 10A you'll need larger wire, probably 8AWG.

Good luck.

The SportTrac had one in the bed. It was on the inner side wall with a weatherproof flip-up cover. You might be able to get one to work in your F150 bed too.

Marine is great ideaMount it up under the bed rail and route the wire down through the tail light and tie into the trailer hitch hot wire 12ga wire is more than sufficient and that cirquit already has a 30 amp fuse in the power dist. box.Bubbabud

You could mount a inverter where its conveniant for you it must be kept dry. Inverters come in many sizes and it depends on what you to run with it. If you just want to charge power tool bats.or cell phone computer etc. a 400 watt unit would work and can be conected to a 30 amp circuit with 12 gauge wire if you need more power many inverters are availible but they require larger wire and should be conected directly to the battery with afuse or circuit breaker in line as close to the battery as posible. I personaly have a Cobra 1200 watt mounted inside my cross bed tool box and it works great. Bubbabud 2011 XLT SC EEEECoboost
