Another Ford Rotor Complaint Thread
#61
In my opinion it is not the rotors - my pads were so tight that I thought something was going to break trying to pry the pads out - I believe the culprit is the anti squeal clips and maybe rust that squeezes the brake pads so tight that they can't relax when the brake pedal is released - which is much like driving around with your left foot on the brake pedal all the time.
I took my dremel tool and a cut off wheel and ground some more clearance into the caliper bracket to loosen the pads enough that they aren't making constant contact! 38k now with no problems - did my modifications around 20k when I found the problem. I think the pads shouldn't be loose but shouldn't be real tight either.
Something to check into.

Both times, I made mention that maybe the brakes were sticking. I was told they were checked and everything was fine.
My truck is now at 54k and the rotors are grooved again and vibrating.
I'm glad I found this thread (and found it when I did). I'm going to replace my brakes with aftermarket and hope for better.

My rotors were trash at 9,000 miles on my 2013 F150 without ever towing a trailer. I replaced them and pads around 15k miles with ford parts because the dealer wouldn't warranty them. By 30,000 miles they are trashed again. I don't drive hard, ride my brakes, aim for puddles, scrape them with screwdrivers; they're just garbage. I now have around 40,000 miles and a refunded ford extended service plan and I will be buying aftermarket parts. Warranties are a joke.

Most of the time this happens when people are heavy on the brakes like coming off the highway. These are not light trucks! And it only takes one time overheating the rotors makes them warp. The only other thing I have seen is people that drive with 2 feet drag the brakes!

I wanted to give an update on the 360 Performance Rotors I purchased from Rotor Depot. So far so good. I've put about 5k miles on them and I've since purchased a set for my wife's 4runner using the f150 forum discount code they provided us.

To those guys running the 360 Performance rotors from Rotor Depot, any updates? How are your rotors looking after going through a winter? I am looking at these rotors vs the R1 Concepts rotors that a lot of Raptor owners run vs the PowerStop kit. Just looking for feedback.
