Default 2012 Platinum Ecoboost... What is a good price?

Hello, My mom is looking at a 2012 Platinum Ecoboost F-150. The sticker is $53,805. The dealer we talked to about this particular truck was only willing to go down 3K which was ridiculous in my opinion. I have read that right now a person can get around 20% off MSRP. Is that true? That is nearly 11K. If she can get at least 10K off she will probably do this.

What do you guys think is a good price to pay for a Platinum Ecoboost with a MSRP of $53,805? Truck will not be financed unless the 0% on 2012 models would somehow make it cheaper.

Thanks!

Any trade in? Are you financing through Ford (which is worth another $1,000 off)?.......if there's no trade involved, and you finance through Ford (which you can then pay off the first month, and keep the $1,000 credit)......and you qualify for all available rebates....then yes, you should easily be able to get $10,000 or more off of sticker.....YMMV

$49k - $50k plus any additional applicable rebates / incentives is about right for a Platinum 4x4, which is probably why it's $53k, with all options. Dealers aren't going to make $1 on the truck just to make you happy. Believe none of what you hear and half of what you see, because you're not getting a Platinum for 20% off MSRP, then get another $xx off with rebates / incentives.

If you want a better deal, wait until the 2013s start hitting the lots and the rebates are better or if you don't need 4WD, save yourself the $3,250 and find a 4x2.

I don't know what promotions are going on currently, but recently many have been getting 10k + off MSRP. I don't know if the Platinum means you won't be able to get that much off, but with the 2013's in production they should be willing to do what they can to sell it. 3k off doesn't sound like a good deal to me.

Don't be afraid to try another dealer, even if it's a little further away. You can even get them bidding against each other for your business.

Yes there would be a trade. A 08 Buick Enclave. NADA Clean trade is 21,400. We would be happy with 20k-21k if at least 10K comes off the MSRP price.

FWIW, I got $9k off, including the rebates AND price break.

Only in Canada are they get over $10k off. That is due to the fact that MSRP was set when the exchange rate was different. Now that it is 1:1, they are getting larger rebates. If you can get $8-9k off in the US, including all rebates, you are doing ok.

In the Houston area, there are two Ford dealerships that have fantastic internet pricing (9K-10K off). I actually used Mac Haik's internet price when I purchased my Mustang. You may try to use this as leveraging power when negotiating, even if dealerships in your area don't offer similar specials.

We occasionally get some pretty big snows where we live so she would not be willing to go without 4x4. Thanks for the info though.

I printed off a few of those adds and my parents may use them for negotiation. Ultimately my father feels ( and I agree) that they should be able to trade for 24-25k +TTL. If the truck can be brought down to 44k and she is given 20 for her trade this would allow for that.
