So, I drop my truck off last friday for a "works deal", oil change and inspection at the dealer I bought from. Drive in the service area, get paperwork done and go to work.
Come back later to pick up my truck and get home to notice that the entire undercarraige is covered in mud, from 3 inches up the sidewall of the tires to completely inside the wheelwells, inside the bumpers, etc.

I know it's a truck and is designed for off road, but my truck is kept spotlessly clean. I pride myself in seeing a nice shiny underneath as well as the paint.

I call the delaer to complain and they said they are doing construction behind the dealership and that they are sorry. Had I known that they would have driven my truck from the service area, around the dealership in the mud to the service bays, I wouldn't have even gone in then until it was done.

Am I wrong to expect my truck to at least be as clean as when I left it there? It took me a couple hours of pressure washing and cleaning the insides of my wheels, wheelwells, etc. to get it back to where I left it.

Venting done, LOL! carry on.

Already cleaned, didn't want any pics out showing it this dirty.

I just assumed that these new dealers keep everything on pavement and pride themselves on cleanliness.

you have every right to be pissed. cant believe a dealer wouldn't have washed it before returning. My Subaru dealer provides free wash with every service. Real nice for wife, saves me the hassle. To me it would be a slap in face for dealer to muddy up the truck and not clean it. Give the truck back to customer the way it was brought to you or cleaner if they had any sense about them.. Simple as that.

i wouldn't be happy either. how long did they drive it back there to get that much mud ot it? i put mine up on my hoist once avery few months and pressure wash everything. i figure it will keep the salt of it and make it last longer.

some dealers dont bother washing trucks anymore... but making it WORSE than how it came in, thats a new one!

My dealer is currently under construction. And we make sure that we don't make the cars dirtier than they were when they came in. We don't do a wash Everytime it's in as we only have 2 cleanup bays and pump too many cars in and out. But if we make them dirty we clean them

I'd be pissed to... I mean I don't mind getting it dirty but I do try to make sure to get the mud all out... But the dealership has no business getting it dirty like that and if they happen to do so they need to take care of it before returning the vehicle to you

NO! You're not wrong in that assumption.

The dealership owes you for your effort. Parts discount, free oil changes, etc., etc., etc..

The last time something like that happened to me (entire front-end and engine bay covered in A/C oil) I had the dealership pay to have the vehicle detailed at a shop of my choosing.
