But I did talk with the Ford Service (Brittney) on here about 2 weeks ago and she gave me a direct phone number to escalate this to a higher level. It may be the standard Ford customer service number ??? Dunno...
I may still call them & follow thru and entertain them to replace it again if I can, since I'm still under warranty for another year yet.

After a year of reading these posts I'm a bit surprised no one has diagnosed a sure fix to this. I gave a 13 Platinum Eco and the smell gets worse each day. Smells like the back end of a real mustang. Please help! Im surprised that you can drop 50K on a truck and can't drive it because it smells too bad. Where is Ford coming to the rescue?
But every time I go back and restart the vehicle (being away from it) the smell returns. This ALSO occurred when I turned the AC on this week. It's concerning mainly for health but also it takes away the smell of leather. I don't we think we should have to mask this odor with store bought drier sheets or sprays, there should be a fix on how any excess water/moisture is being drained from the bottom of the truck.
Once you're able to make an appointment with your dealer (click here), let me know; we'll get this going.
I show your CSM is currently working with your dealer to get more info, and has a follow-up call scheduled for this week. Please keep me updated; I'm here as a resource as well.

Todd/Crystal/Brittany.... I don't know who I'm talking to anymore. I drop my truck off at a second dealer tomorrow to have them look. Over the phone I explained the situation to the service person, explaining that it had been looked at by dealer no 1 and what they had done, and that I wasn't interested in wasting any more peoples' time. I was hoping they would have heard of this issue, but she hadn't. So I'm expecting the same outcome...still dealing with the smell. I like the truck, but not enough to put up with this smell, even just for ten to fifteen minutes every time I start it. I've been loyal to ford for a long time now, my last few trucks since 2002 having been 3 new F150s, an Explorer, and an Expedition. When my previous 07 F150 only went 120,000 babied miles before breaking my heart and starting to fall apart, I felt I was at a crossroads, but decided to give Ford another chance. Now after only a year with this one, I kind of just want it gone, unless this smell is resolved.

I have the same issue with my 2013. The smell is there for about 10 seconds when I first turn it on. I sprayed some spray 9 into the vents and it seems to eliminate the smell temporarilly. Dealer I am sure knows about the problem but have no solutions.

Todd to the rescue, folks! What's the year and mileage (if not posted above) of your trucks?

I understand it's your job to "Help", but it's getting really annoying when FordService posts the same thing on every issue thread thinking that going to the dealership will solve most of our problems, when in fact they ARE the problem.

I would love to know. Service parts at the dealer are also a different animal. They are shipped direct to the "service facility" who then ships them to the dealers. Service parts can actually be older then then the currently produced OEM parts going directly to the plants but I think in this case this isn't a commonly stocked part so they would be fresh parts in simplistic terms. Here's the catch even if we are at say G, H or I we the consumer don't know what each revision has addressed it could be a change of fasteners or a "widget" on the entire assembly housing changed for example. In a few words without having a direct source we wouldn't know if a newer engineering change level even addressed that issue.
Have you considered seeking a second opinion at another dealer? You can locate dealerships in your area here. Please let me know the current odometer reading on your truck; I'll see how to help on my end.

My dealership has actually been very good to work with and replaced my evaporator and provided a rental while the work was being done but the smell returned the following year.
The problem goes beyond an uncooperative dealership this is at a component level that no dealership can resolve with cases of deodorants or multiple evaporator replacements. My comfort level of another complete dashboard tear down is low until I know the root cause has been addressed.
For the record my truck has only 26,500Km on it. (16K miles) it's barely broken in with one evaporator replacement done already.
