Default Aftermarket wheels on in Indiana winter

Will my wheels be ok if I leave them on during Indiana winter. Will the salt ruin them? Is there anything I can put on them to protect them when they start throwing salt on the roads?

I live in Indiana too. I don't know what kind of wheels you have. If you have clearcoated aluminum, getting some steel wheels for winter would be good if you can afford them. Otherwise, keep them clean. Once the clearcoat is compromised, they can get ugly fast.

Go get them Opti Coated if there's a guy in your area, that stuff will last you a few winters and you don't have to worry about the salt

I have some factory 20s that I'd sell if you are interested.

When I was shopping for aftermarket wheels I talked to my sales guy at the Tire Rack about that same question. He told me to stay away from aftermarket chrome, polished and machined with clearcoat. Said they won't hold up in our winters. He said painted wheels are the best option and painted with milled accent should be ok too. I would say you are OK, just clean them when you can. I ended up buying Method NV wheels but then decided to run winter tires on my factory chrome 18's and run the Methods with AT tires in the nicer months.

Where are all you guys at in Indiana? I am in South Bend.

This will make the third winter my Raceline Raptor's have been on my Ranger. They are powder coated, likely the same as the OP's wheels. No problems at all. I tend to agree that aftermarket chrome/polished can't hack it. Previously the clearcoat came off some American [made in china] Racing wheels, and the aluminum became pitted.
