The rectangular controls ought to look fine there. I look forward to seeing your results!
I am hoping the look will not be overkill. I got the dimensions of the switches and made a cardboard cutout. When I put the cutout on the area I was thinking about, it look to fit great with about 1/2 an inch on either side. I guess I won't know for sure until I receive the units and install them. I will post as soon as I get it done.

This switches should look good. The seat on them icon is backlit blue. So that should fit in well with the blue dash and controls look.

Hopefully it won't be to long to get and install them.

So, since I want my switches illuminated and mounted in my console somewhere, I decided to go this route......

And if that works well, I may consider doing the same for the rear seat and mounting the switches under the rear vents on either side of the 12v source.....

I really like this idea! Did you get the switch kit from the same company? I had no idea this could be done so cheap!

I wonder how effective they are on fabric seats though. Can anyone provide real results???

Here is the link from ebay:

If they don't work well, its only a few bucks.....

I would think they work as well on fabric as leather. But time will tell. My issue would be how they would feel under your butt. Whether on of off, hopefully no lumps....

It comes as a complete kit.

They work BETTER on cloth seats. My dakota had factory cloth heated seats which I really missed with the F150. I put these heaters (different switches) in my F150 three months ago and love them. I put leather in a couple weeks ago and they still work great but (subjectively speaking) the heat is felt more quickly with cloth seats.

No lumps, no bumps. It is a carbon fiber mesh, rather than the thicker wire you would find spiraling through an old electric blanket. I didn't notice any difference in comfort with the heaters off. Like you say it is a fairly cheap experiment.

Bugger, I paid that price with two position switches. Some things keep getting cheaper.

Let us know how these turn out cause they have better looking switches and do 2 seats instead of one like the autowarm kit. Looking forward to it!

TWO seat kits for $80?
I figured it was $80 for one.

Do it!

Oh, and get outta here, you're freaking me out.

I followed the link and it said it was for 2 seats
I found on Tasca that you can buy the Ford heaters for $50 a seat, minus the switches and such.

The weird thing was that there is a part called a "blower"??

And I think I might've found our elusive padding

And sorry, I just can't help but be jealous of your seats

This may be a stupid question, but I was just wondering if there is such a kit for making your own A/C seats? That's the only option I really wish I waited until 2012 for.
