I haven't tried it yet, since I just got it, but I would say it is very much detailed enough.

I installed one and have it hooked up to my Kenwood DNX690HD head unit. Works great. Lines are a bit goofy and I don't think necessary. If I could do anything different with my order, I probably would order one without the lines.

Did you wire the pos and neg from cam into the head unit or other ?
I have a DNX890HD and I wired the cam into the hu and can't get an image.

I wired the positive to the reverse trigger wire on the HU (purple wire with white stripe) and ground to the steel frame behind the stereo. Works fine for me. I was going to tap the ground to the stereo ground, but decided against it.

I have purple/white to purple/white and when I shift to reverse it goes to backup screen but have no image or power coming out camera + wire.

I'm assuming you have a maestro with your kenwood? If so, the purple/white from the maestro and HU go together, and the power lead from the camera needs to splice into them as well. I used a quick tap that came with the camera and tapped into the wire on the head unit side. The ground lead from the camera should be grounded to a good body ground somewhere.

Also make sure the connection from the camera lead itself to the rest of the wiring (small little push connector) is together properly.

Yes I have Kenwood and Maestro with purple/white connected from maestro to the hu and there is power going into the hu on that wire, I'll try splicing the cam + into that but what I don't understand is why I don't have power coming out of the hu wires labeled cam + and cam -.
Thanks for your help it is much appreciated. Will try this tomorrow morning and update how it turns out

Not sure. Mine didn't have "cam + and cam -" wires. The reverse trigger wire is what gives it power when you put the truck in reverse. I'm not sure what the cam +/- wires are for, though I agree it would make sense for them to run the back up cam.

Hi,

Do not try to POWER your camera off the purple/white wire from the Maestro module. This is a low current positive trigger to tell the radio the truck is in reverse. We don't supply enough current to drive a camera and you could damage the Maestro module if you try. The Camera + should be run to ACC (red wire out of Maestro and on radio) and the Camera - to ground. This will enable you to also see the camera while you are driving if you like.

Cheers,
