Adding Sync AfterMarket

Adding Sync AfterMarket
Hi All,
So, I recently bought a used 2010 XLT with leather trim and some other nice options. However it does not have Sync. There is a mic in the rear-view mirror, and the radio has the "phone" button on it. The only thing that's missing is the sync module and the buttons on the steering wheel.
Is this something I could add? Would I need to have the dealer do it?
Thanks,
-Mike

I thought they all had sync. Anyhow, I know it's preference, but I would never put in any effort to get sync. It's mediocre at best, and a night mare at worst. Aftermarket would serve anyone much better. Imo.

it'd prob take a new steering wheel and possibly dash. it can be a pain in the *** at times, but im glad I have sync. unless my gal decides to text me 40 times and stop my music every time.

Th Sync mic is next to the front overhead console. I would think it would be a pricey option to add Sync, youll need the Sync module, and new mic, plus wiring harness...
Possibly a new raido bezel, if you want the usb and aux in ports... While I do like Sync, I wouldnt want to try and add it if I didnt. Then youll probably need new steering whell controls?
Just get a aftermarket HU, like a Kenwood, Pioneer, or Alpine. The nicer HUs all have built in bluetooth (phone & music)...

To answer a couple of your questions. In 2010 ford was still using the combo auto dim mirror and mic. They have since moved the mic to its own location separate from the Mirror. The radio having a phone button is just the way they were all made. Now if you are so inclined to want to add sync it can be done. Check out 4dtech.com they have many options there. I had the base radio in my STX and have added ford OEM navigation to mine. As others have said getting an aftermarket HU might also be a good option.
Here is my nav unit that I got from them for my truck.

I'd go aftermarket... I gave up on sync within a few days of owning the truck. It's just so frustrating and stupid that it isn't worth using it.

^ Totally agree. While I've adapted to the MFT. If I were you I'd go with a new Head Unit with Android/Apple compatibility.
Like astrand1 has, couldn't look more factory. So it's a win-win.

how do you guys hate it?
I had hella problems with mine at first, but now, I can repy to texts from it, have it read texts to me, make phone calls etc.
when my truck was brand spankin new, I hated it, but now that it's an old turd, I like it!
