Default Adding Extra Leaf Springs to Rear

Hey there,

I just picked up a 2010 F150 XTR Scab in Tuxedo Black this Christmas, and was thinking about putting in a couple extra leaf springs in the rear to increase it's hauling capacity, anyone know what sort of ride degradation I can expect by putting a couple on each side? What about the lift from the extra springs? 2-3 inches? New to the forums, and this is my first F150 so I appreciate your patience folks.

Cheers,

Jordan

a truck that nice & expensive + the much rougher ride I would consider adding the air suspension to it. my grandpa did for hsi trailers & he loves it.

what are you hauling that requires that much extra spring. u might as well got a 3/4 ton at that rate, imo...

air rides have my vote. some more $$$ but would be a better option for u if worried about ride.

Well to tell you the truth, I probably don't need it for the hauling I actually plan on doing and more for the looks of having 3" lift in the rear.

I only haul part-time junk removal for cash because I'm a student, as well as help students move houses at the end of the school-year. In addition I work at a ranch outside of town but hay really isn't that heavy.

So back to the main point, what kind of change can I expect in the ride? I still have the stock 18" chrome rims that come with the XTR package with the Goodyear Wranglers, will the lift make the the gap between the top of the wheel and the well look comical?

If you are looking for the extra capacity, air.

For the lift I would replace the spring pack, still need extra capacity, air.

Here is mine with a front end level kit (2") and raised 2" in the rear which included an additional rear leaf. I also have air bags to level my pop up camper. Your axle is rated for your weakest link which will be the passenger car tires and wheels.

So this is what a 2" lift looks like. The tires are 295 Toyos which are 33.5" tall.

As far as I'm concerned the ride quality improved as now it feels like a truck instead of a Caddy!!!!

I had to hide my face driving from the lift shop to the tire shop. Looked ridiculous on those tiny stock tires!!!!
