Does Fry's carry that cable? I went into Fry's today without referring to this thread (I wasn't anticipating visiting the store, but was in the area) and couldn't find the cable.

Thanks.

Does anyone know if you can get that type of USB cable in the U.S. anywhere? I have searched everywhere and cannot find anything except for cables that are way too short.....

I got my cable from Microcenter out of Chicago.
I also velcro'd a 320G portable hard drive to the back side of the glove box so everything is out of sight.

Some HDs use the micro usb (my WD Passport) does and others use the mini usb (my sea gate and iomega do).

I have formatted my HD to FAT32 and have about 7K songs added. When I plug it in I get a message saying some songs are not compatible and only get 112 to show up. Is there a specific way to transfer songs over? I have used ITunes playlist to copy over but I guess I need to go to my actual library to copy songs.

BTW this is using the upfront USB while on my way to pick up a cable to use for routing.

try going to the actual library and copying the files over. You can even have them within folders. Itunes just does weird things, I've neber had much luck dealing with itunes, it never lets me manage my library just the way I want it. So I started using mediamonkey even to sync my ipod.

but I digress, just copy the library folder straight to the passport and it should be fine.

I am converting them right now using tunebite and removing labels and any other tags that may be on there. 7K songs and it say 23hours left guess it will be a tomorrow thing now (using the cable I need to route while doing the converting)

There is no reason that this mod couldn't be done using an iPod cable instead of the USB cable... Get everything internally routed and hidden away.
