2013 Supercrew, less than 1 year old purchased new Nov 2013.

Once temp out side gets above mid 80's, ac struggles to cool cab. Fieldpiece digital thermometer in vent to the right of steering wheel indicates that when the discharge temp hits about 46 degrees, compressor or something cycles cooling off. Temp then rises to 53-56 and I assume compressor cycles back on because temp starts to drop again. Hits 46 +/-, cycles off again. (You can be at a stop light, take off and literally feel and hear the compressor kick in.)

I know they are 2 different systems, but my wife's Edge and Sons Explorer will freeze you out from the moment you turn them on and have a more constant cold air discharged out of the vents.

Before I waste my time and Fords, I was seeking some assistance on thoughts about whether my system is working or out of wack. If its working within what fords says are specs, I wont be able to tolerate it. Just too hot here in Texas.

these trucks absorb a lot of heat...how long are you waiting before measuring the temp?

Random times, I realize that you should not check right a way. You can be driving down the road and literally feel the air warm.

Just does not seem right, should get much lower than 46 before cycling and or not cycle off so soon once it hits 46.

Don't compare the A/C in your truck to an Edge. My wife also has an Edge and the A/C is like a meat locker, I'm jealous.

Adding the insulation to the coolant line make a nice improvement, I did the modification and it works.

Thanks, did that, not much improvement. That's why I wanted to get a tech discussion going to better understand what Ford has done and how we may address it. Just cycles way too much.

Thanks, I would not describe it as a rapid cycle that is typical of a system that is low, but it is like clock work: hits 46 cycles off hits 57, cycles on.

I guess I also wanted a tech to tell me if these cycle events were at normal temps?

Thanks

You do not diagnose a climate control system with just temperature, you also have to take into account pressure in relation to temp, see the following charts and get a set of gauges to determine if a problem exists.
