A/C service bay? Ford dealer? LMFAO what are you smoking? Maybe at a Ferrari dealer or some other exotic where the techs wear white gloves.
If your dealer told you that, you need to find a new dealer because they fed you a HUGE line of b/s.
In the EXTREMELY RARE event they did have a climate controlled service bay area, any tech with any amount of air conditioning training knows to move the vehicle into a non climate controlled area for proper diagnosis.

It was a tad cooler than usual today in Metairie, LA.
I will try again on a normal day. My truck usually feels insufficient compared to our old work trucks.

My A/C sucks in hot weather too. As some have said, the system might be undersized. That said, if undersized, why do some work and what is different about them.
In my time, we started with mechanics and now we have technicians. I know that it will tick some off, but I firmly believe that most techs cannot diagnose anything that does not show up on a scanner. When the problem does not show up on a scan, they have no idea where to look.
I think that I have a right to say that, because I started out as a mechanic who could work in that trade across Canada. Somewhere along the line, some brilliant government mind decided that I was now a technician. I prefer to be a mechanic.

I purchased a digital thermometer and took some A/C readings today. It will give you an idea as to where I am at.
Trip One
With the truck set to normal A/C, set at full cold and fan at maximum.
Outside Temperature = 78 Degrees F.
Humidity = 65%
Humidex = 86
At the centre port on the driver's side, the coldest reading I could get on the highway was 46.1 Degrees F.
With today's conditions, that would barely get the cab down to 70.2 Degrees F. On hotter days, we sweat our butts off.
At idle, the best it would do was 53.4 Degrees F.
Trip Two
With the truck set to MAX air and the fan at maximum.
Outside Temperature = 79 Degrees F.
Humidity = 66%
Humidex = ?
At the centre port on the driver's side, the coldest reading I could get on the highway was 44.8 Degrees F.
Trip Three
With the truck set to normal A/C, set at full cold and fan at maximum.
Outside Temperature = 81 Degrees F.
Humidity = 66%
Humidex = ?
At the centre port on the driver's side, the coldest reading I could get on the highway was 46.2 Degrees F.
At idle, the best it would do was 53.1 Degrees F.
