AC not blowing too chilly?

Your 98 might have had a dysfunctional low pressure switch. Pull that pressure down low enough and you could freeze the coil, assuming you don't trip a high side safety in the process.

Everybody else has said the same thing--I just need to share too--Mine is the worst air conditioner I have had in a vehicle. It feels on the cooler side but not cold. I know it isn't in my head because I also have an 01 GMC Yukon and that thing will freeze you out. That vehicle has over 100,000 miles on it and it kicks butt compared to my Ford. I was always going to take it in and never have. Interstate driving it actually gets pretty comfortable. In the city I am dying though. Seems the air conditioner has a hard time catching up. Ford used to be good at this. My 95 Ford I used to have would also freeze me out like the YUKON I have now does. So I think it is an EPA thing or something dumb like that.

FWIW, there's another thread on here somewhere where a member insulated the exposed a/c lines. I just did it myself, and yes, I feel a definite difference.
$8 for some 1/2" plumbing insulation. 10 minutes to cut/install. Done.
Thanks to the OP in that other thread!

Mine is not quite as good as my 02 f150 but with a 103 index it keeps the temp right where you set it. and with everything max it will get the cab really cold. Circulating the air makes a big difference too, I let it run from outside until it get comfortable then put it on circulate. It never has to turn up again to keep the cab at temp.

I just found this on my 2013 F150 XLT but the front seats have a small tube underneath them that push air out acting like vents. If you put it on defroster mode or the under dash setting, it blows way harder. Wonder if they build an extension you can put on to help cool down the rear cab faster.

Took the truck in and told them again what was wrong. I knew that they would not find anything wrong adn they didn't. This is what was on the ford printout when i picked up the truck.
"23321 HOOK UP GAUGES- AT 1500RPM LOW SIDE 30PSI AND HIS SIDE AT 155PSI, RT 46DEGF AIR OUT CENTER VENT ON MAX AC- WINDOWS WERE ALSO FROSTING UP ON INSIDE"
I saw this and was like, yea no crap. Its sitting in a cool service bay and not on the road.
