Question 6 lug to 5 lug adapter yay or nay?

I didn't get any replies in a rim specific thread I made, but I was really set on some 5 lug truck specific Hurst rims.

The issue is, our trucks are 6 lug, so to use that rim that would require a 6 lug to 5 lug adapter. Would this be a bad idea to use such an adapter?

Yes or no, and why?

Thanks!

Default 6 lug to 5 lug adapter yay or nay?

I would think it would be no different than the Bora Wheel Spacers a lot of us are running. As long as there HUB & LUG Centric as the Bora Spacers are!

No idea if they're concentric or not; TireRack just says it includes an adapter for each wheel while not even providing images!

You would think going down in lug count is reducing the capacity of your truck, no? Putting the stress on fewer lugs.

Please pardon my lack of tact here, but reducing the number of lugs for mounting a wheel is a whole lot of things I could say that wouldn't be received well. Let's just say it really not a good idea. Sounds like a very desperate effort to get a set of wheels on that don't really fit.

Would you fly in a plane that had fewer than designed wings on it?

Wheels are either one or the other, not both. Good and better wheels are hubcentric. Junk wheels are lugcentric (made to fit anything)

I honestly have no idea what Hurst was thinking by offering a dedicated truck specific rim in only 5 lug pattern.

Sounds like a disaster to me. Why not find 6 lug rims you like? There are only a ba-gillion options out there.....

Race cars have only 1 lug nut (cant remember the actual name, but you get the point!), and probably a crap ton more forces transmitted to their wheels...
What I'm saying is the load / weight rating of the adapter and wheels might be more important than just the number of lug nuts?
I have about zero specific knowledge on that though, just thinking out loud...

Not everyone wants to be like every other guy and have Fuels and KMC's. Rim choices are pretty lacking considering the above.
