Anybody else get teased about your 3.5
I get teased(in good fun mostly) because I bought an FX2 with the ecoboost. Yeah I've always had 4x4s beore.......but in the last 5 years I needed it ONCE! So......bought the FX2 sport package in Ruby red. Sits up like any other truck, hauls boogie when I ask it. I think they're all jealous, lol!
Anybody else catch flack about your "6 banger"?

If you don't need 4x4 why pay for it? Pretty expensive charge and it eats a lot more gas over the life of the unit. Where I live 4x4 is must with all the snow and ice we get. 2WD is really not a good option for me but for those that don't need.... why pay for it unless you absolutely refuse to drive a truck without 4WD.........
As you said it's mostly in jest anyway..........

For along time full sized trucks and V8's go together like peanut butter/jelly.
In the past the aspirated V6 have come and gone. It appears the future on the 1/2 ton pickup and what will be the preferred engine will be some kind of V6. Usually the guy that's ragging on it has probably never drove or towing with the EB engine. I say if anyone is in doubt, take them for a ride and show them what it can do and I am sure they will see why so many guys are opting for the EB. It might not have the growl but it has the whistle (diesel).

Keepin' the lights on!
There's a few folks at work that are completely clueless about the EB. I've been asked how my hybrid truck is a couple times. Once one of them asked what engine was in it. I started responding "It's a 3.5L v6-" one of them interrupted and laughed. "Why would anyone go from a 5.3L v8 to a 3.5L v6"? So that's where I left off with that group. I guess they think it's a NA 3.5L v6. Of course, that group all drives 5.3 lifted chevys. It would probably blow their minds if we ever lined up for a run.

is it the guys with hugely lifted 4x4's and massive tires that clearly never leave pavement? the abbreviation for these guys is "D...B..g's" who apparently think they're going to intimidate other vehicles with their ridiculously overbuilt rigs. (as if you're really going to crash into or run over another vehicle when your lift alone cost more than the other cars)
i would've gotten a 4x2 with a limited slip rear and been happy with it, but at the time the dealer was trying to move 5.0's with 4x4 off the lot so my truck was actually thousands cheaper than a 3.5l 2wd ... even if the rated mpg's prove true i did the math and it would've taken me 6-7 years of ownership before I even broke even on the 'savings' of the better mpg's.
in short...who cares what others think unless they're paying for your truck...
