Default 6.2L Engine Stall

I recently bought a new 2013 F150 SuperCrew Platinum 4x4 w/ the 6.2L. I have less than 2k miles on the truck so far and have had my first problem.

I was running my truck through the car wash on Tuesday and while in the middle of the car wash the truck died. The truck was in neutral and in transitioning from the wash to the rinse/under-body section of Mike's Carwash when I noticed the tach dropped. I couldn't here anything because it was loud so I am unaware of any engine noises. Immediately after the low oil pressure warning came on which would be related to the fact that the engine was not running. I turned the ignition off and then restarted the truck. Everything has been fine since. Then I talk to my Dad who has the same truck I do only a lariat and with less then 1k miles and he said his did the exact same thing.

My question is has anyone else had this problem?

I called the dealership and they blame it on the cold weather. Here in central Indiana the weather was -5*F on tuesday.

Any thoughts/ideas are appreciated

Ben

I wouldn't take "cold weather" as an answer for your truck stalling, that definitely isn't considered normal. My 5.0 runs just fine when its -38 Celsius.

What a BS answer for the dealership. A truck that wont run at a balmy -5f?? What the heck are you supposed to do when it hits -30f?

The coldest my eco has saw is -36f this winter. Never a hiccup from it.

Sorry i cant help with your problem, but id be leary of any dealer who spews that crap.

It's only happened the one time while going through the car wash and with both trucks. Otherwise they have ran perfect even with the bitter cold. That morning it was -15*F and it started up just fine.

Could it possible be the drastic, immediate swing in air temp from the hot water? Water getting something wet that it shouldn't have? although i wouldn't think it would fire right back up if that were the case.

Maybe sucked just enough water into the intake to make the truck starve for enough air.

I would agree it's just a sensor reacting to the car wash. But I can't imagine running mine through a wash when it's -5* without having frozen doors and locks.

I'd be taking advantage of temps that get up to -5f.

Just washed mine last week at -12f. When its been-20f for a week or better -5f feels like a heat wave.
